Why is my avatar photo always so small?

Yes, it is the photo under the name to the left of the posts. Examples would be in this thread, on that page where Groovy Granny, two_wheels, Sarahlabyrinth, and Quasiquixotic all have quite large avatars. (Managed to find a thread with many of them on the same page, haha).

Since it seems to be possible it would be nice to know how, I want big avatar too!

Good examples! Drilling down, it relates to the "1000 posts + 1 year membership" user permission tier. The standard is the 100x100, though with the extra tier it gets bumped to 150x150. I'll have to consider modifying the permissions list pages to reflect that difference.

Aaah, I see! Thank you for figuring it out Then I know I should be able to have bigger photos once I am 1000 posts +, mystery solved!

Aha! Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I’ve been wondering if the differently sized avatars have something to do with user permissions, and it looks like that’s the case. 1000 posts and 1 year for 150 pixels - noted, Gumball. It also looks like you managed to unlock the deluxe avatar tier, Estrid.

They unlock the fancy tier by default.

Wishing I’d found this thread before trying to - very unsuccessfully - upload more than ten versions of my avatar, with different pixel and file sizes, in an attempt to inflate it a bit. If the servers go down, you all know where to point fingers

It’s only to make the stars come through a bit more, tie it together with the username. Yours already stands out nicely, lapushka
