    I'm resurrecting this thread. I tried the simple rinse last night; soaked whole oats in water for 10-15 minutes, strained, then massaged into scalp and rinsed the length. After air drying, the length is wonderfully hydrated. Since I didn't do any kind of wash, though, it is all very piece-y. If my hair was curly I think it would be terrific! I'm going to experiment a bit more because I think either this or rice water will really help with my flaky scalp.

    *I really liked the soaked oats in my smoothie the next morning.

    I already have Aveeno's colloidal oatmeal powder meant to be used as a bath soak so I'll have to try this out next wash day out
