Thanks ladies, I have not been able to polish them to a high sheen yet sheen though I used the fine grits and polishing cloths.

So...I made some things for my swap giftee, but I can't post them until she's received them. I will say it involved wire, which is not a medium I love working with. From years of typing, my hands are weak and it takes a lot of effort to twist a lower gauge of wire. I do like the way they came out so I am happy about that at least.

I am also working on replacing the scrollsaw I killed. Ok, it wasn't entirely dead, but I think it's fair to say, I used it beyond its capacity. The new one I plan to buy is a lot more expensive so I've had to save up for it, but I should be able to get it soon...very excited!!!

I also need to get some wood I have at home cut down to thinner slices. I ordered a couple of bowl blanks and they are too dense, but that wood sure is purdy!!!

So I finally finished my very first ever mod on my very first hair fork. I added the abalone years and years ago and did a pretty shoddy job, I'm pretty sure I used a pocket knife... But like I said it was my first time modding anything so that's ok.

I always intended to add the rhinestone to make it look like a moon and star, and I finally did that today, my question is, should I add a couple more stars? Does it look like a moon and a star or is my concept not coming through:

It looks kind of like an alien with a large monocle...

Add a few more rinestones and different sizes if you can... try and model something like the big dipper or something... a constellation so people know they are stars.

LOL I can't unsee it now! Very pretty though, I bet three smaller rhinestones and one more larger one randomly dispersed would look good too. Impressive that you did that with a pocketknife, what kind of wood?

Heh, I don't know if I have the skills to squeeze a constellation in there, but I really like the different sizes of stones idea, thank you! I'll have to go dig through my craft stuff and find some more.

Thanks Ms PharoahMoan, it's pretty rough, but it was my first time doing anything wood related so I'm ok with it. I was thinking about maybe trying to fill it in and make it look less rough with polyurethane or clear nail polish or something... I'm not sure what the wood is, but it is black all the way through for what that's worth.
