    Thanks ladies!

Honestly no the yarn is very light weight and it only wraps around the bun so you don't even feel it

Luna, it is spectacular! I agree you might want to include the head curve in the topper. It is so much bigger looking in your hair....I like that! I also agree that wearing comfort is the most important. Hope you and your family are doing well. I also wore a whale tale a few day ago. I have so many toys now ad my fav- go- to- buns are Ness and Spock Which only require a stick so I don't Wear them very often. I need to find some easy fork buns for my thinning hair.

Shaluwm, those bun covers look amazing! The sunflower and white daisy are especially cute

I recently made my first selfmade hair stick. It's whittled from a piece of oak and oiled, shown below on a bed of its own shavings and a couple action shots.

I love the picture of it on its own shavings, shows how much work went into it! Beautiful.

Beautiful work, Miss Thyme! What did you use to cut it out all pretty like that? I've started making a few wooden hairsticks with the materials I had lying around, but a pocket knife is NOT good for anything more complicated than perfectly straight sticks.

There were even a few more shavings before I found that lid to keep them in, heh

I used a dedicated whittling knife that I bought for the purpose. I've never really whittled before so I can't make any recommendations, but I got this one from a German brand called Kirschen:

    Here's a picture:

I agree now that it's not top heavy, though looking at it this way I think I'm going to bend it so the top is included in the head curve. Thanks for the advice!

The base material is 6 gauge aluminum wire - I found it at an art store (I think it's for sculpting?) and it's so great for hair forks.

bparnell75, me too! I was just wearing your whale tail the other day and thinking of you

And it really wasn't that much work. I followed this youtube tutorial (but not exactly because of the base wire) and it's mostly just mindless wrapping, so it's perfect for doing while watching netflix I definitely recommend it!

Beautiful work to be done with a knife, Miss Thyme! I might have a whittling knife around the house somewhere, so I'll take a look. Thanks for the recommendation.
