    Default scalp nutrition?

Does anyone do anything witht thier scalp to promote hair growth? I've seen the caffiene rinse thread and it made me think about other vitamins or teas that the scalp might actually absorb that would benificial. Does anyone use msm?

I brush my hair daily and that helps stimulate my scalp because I do it in the upside down position.

Also, some unsolicited advice...be very careful putting anything on your scalp. You don't want to upset your scalp's natural mantle, which can lead to unpleasant scalp problems.

If you want to help nourish your scalp, the best way to do that is to eat properly. You might also want to try daily scalp massage in the bent at the waist position. Be sure to detangle your hair before and after your massage. The following links were originally provided by LHC member DRAGON ANGEL in December 2014 and pertain to hair structure and the ph balance of your scalp and why it is important to choose products wisely:

Scalp massages are great. I think anything that improves circulation is great. I believe caffeine does just that. Other than that it would be good nutritional habits.

You're welcome, LongCurlyTress, but I think Dragon Angel deserves all the credit for sharing those great video links! I never really understood the stuff about ph balance..even when Dr. Michael explained it. I know LHC Heidi W always stressed it was not good to upset the scalp's natural acid mantle.

I often use pure coconut oil to stimulate hair grow and make hair more silky. There are also other ways, such as using mayonaise or bananas. Hope it helps!!!

I don't know how much help this will be, but I've been doing the caffeine rinse, as well as taking MSM, Biotin, & Viviscal. I COULD have mismeasured, but I swear my hair grew .5 inches in a week. I measured it a couple of times, and I've been taking pictures. What can I say, I'm OCD with my spreadsheet

Your scalp, like the rest of your skin, is nourished via nutrients in your bloodstream. Likewise, it gets oxygen from your bloodstream. Putting stuff on your scalp is not going to "nourish" it and, as Madora says, may have negative effects.

Improving your diet would improve the nutrition your scalp (and the rest of your body) gets. Scalp massage may improve blood flow in the small capillaries of the scalp.
