Did a SMT today for the first time in awhile. I used Suave Essentials Everlasting Sunshine conditioner, Lily of the Valley aloe gel, and honey from Trader Joe’s, and I added a small bit of olive oil as well— less than 1/2 teaspoon. Left it on for 2.5 hours.

I think that must have been too long though, because my cuticle feels a bit roughed up and my hair isn’t as soft as it has been after prior treatments. It’s getting to feel better as it dries thoroughly, but I still won’t leave on hydrating treatments for that long anymore, especially during the dry season. Learned my lesson!

ETA the new formula of Suave seemed to work fine! I did see 5 or 6 white flakes as I was detangling after rinsing, but no flakes at all once dry.

HL now, current goal is Classic
Weekly wash with diluted sulfate shampoo, following a capillary schedule, sealing all the moisture in with *gasp!* baby oil! No trimming 2021 (first half for now)

I copied this a long time ago, and plan to try it today. I'm curious as to how long I can leave it on, and if it's drippy.

I think this is from Anje or Meteor

My favorite DIY protein treatment is adding gelatin to modified SMT (because it allows to do protein treatment in one step, instead of having to follow up with a moisturizing one):
1 pack of Knox gelatin + 1/4 cup of hot water + 1/2 cup of conditioner + 1-2 tbsp of honey + 1 tsp of oil.
