I have a bit of a silly question, but how do you actually use a flexi you made yourself, since the stick isn't attached? The "official" ones I get: you stick the stick through your hair and notch the other end with the flexi. But what about a DIY flexi? Do you add the flexi after the stick is secured? Do you somehow put the flexi on with the stick?

I really want to make my own since they're so beautiful.

Part of the reason the lilla rose ones intrigued me so much was because I have a ton of trouble securing my hair in any updo and the notching system looks so easy and very secure. Does a DIY flexi provide any extra security than a stick alone?

I put the flexi over my bun. Put a stick through the first flexi "loop" and thorough my hair. Then out through the other flexi "loop".

It can help keep some flyaways contained, or if the stick is a tiny bit shorter than ideal, it can sometimes help keep the edges of the bun from jumping off the stick, but it's generally decorative.

For me it depends. A flexi that's big enough for "all of my bun" is mostly decorative, while a smaller one, that fits a center held bun, helps keeping it secure.
