Well, ain't that a nifty trick? Thank you sharing this, I had no clue!
So, I know a lot of people complain about the search function on the site, and that they can't find anything in Google either, but here is a nifty little trick that might help everyone when you're searching for old threads or information.
In Google, there is a way to search only one site. Just type in site:longhaircommunity.com and your keywords, and it will search for the keywords you type in ONLY on longhaircommunity.com. I think it works better than the site search function, and it definitely narrows down the search results when compared to standard googling.
There's your nifty little tip for the day! What were you able to find?

Also of note is that Google - and just search engines in general - is only able to search the publicly accessible areas of the forum such as Mane and Hair Polls.

That's true, I should have mentioned it. So it won't work for searching for threads in the Friendship Boards, but if you're dying to find that huge old thread about castor oil (like I was earlier today), this trick is your friend.

Lots of great ways to narrow a search in Google advanced search, but knowing the phrasing makes typing the search into the box so much faster.

Mod hat off. Mod hat on. Don't make me wear the mod hat, it messes up my hair. *grin*
There are actually lots of cool Google secrets. Like if you type a keyword with a minus sign directly in front of it ( -keyword ), then google won't include search results with those keywords.

I just search here, on the site itself, but make sure to scroll to "titles only" and that makes *all* the difference.
