I also have waist length hair and have trouble getting all my hair in it. Needless to say, I no longer use it. I loved it when my hair was shorter....

I adore my Turbie Twist!!! I wear it backwards and fold my hair up. It is just so light and comfortable!
My hair is currently tailbone length.

Made it to terminal length at mid-calf, now I'm maintaining at my favorite length: Classic!

Whether you believe you can do something, or believe you can't. you're right!
I have several. I love using them! As many others have said, they soak up most of the water and leave the hair damp (instead of dripping) so that air drying doesn't take so long.
I have the aquis action microfiber towel (supposed to be a lightweight packable/camping towel). It is longer than a turbie twist and absorbs water really well. I seriously don't stay anywhere for longer than a day overnight without packing it, because I feel not only does it vastly increase my drying time, but it's a lot gentler on my hair.
I used to use one but I didn't like the way it sat on my head. After my hair reached a certain length, stuffing it all in was a challenge and it felt funny. I use a XXL soft t-shirt now and I like it better
I had two and wore them to death, even after my hair got so long that I had to fold it over in the middle. I recently bought two microfiber towels that I am going to try to convert into longer turbans.
Change is the only constant.
Husband bought a microfiber towel. His hair is tailbone length. He says the towel is way too small and I agree. He couldn't possibly wrap his head in it. I take his hair in sections and squeeze down the length to remove as much water as I can. I honestly don't find that this special towel is working any better than a normal one for this.

I love my turbie towel, because it actually stays securely on my head while I potter about the bathroom (unlike the normal towel I was using before - I would pretty much have to keep one hand on it to steady it).
I have never tried a microfibre towel for my hair, I've been using a big cotton T shirt and that works pretty well!
I've got a white one I got from Bodycare for a couple of pounds, but I just can't get it to work. I bought two from Primark that seemed much larger and had elastic inside the edge (for my daughters) and they do work much better. I still can't get the loop around the button (even with the folding technique) but I can if I use it backwards That's basically when you drape it over your head with the button on the front of your head and the bit that contains the hair, down your back, and twist it upwards. I find I get less tangles this way than with the traditional 'tip your head forward' thing.
Now measuring in at 37 inches, or BCL. Classic by Christmas '15 is a real possibility! Yeah, that's my clothes horse in the pic. I'm that glam.
