I am testing a pre keratin photo to see if it uploads. This was several months ago.

ok, now how do I make it a photo and not a link. grrr. I may have to just do links and give out a guest password if I can't figure it out

Copy and paste the option that says IMG next to it.

You have to copy the link of the photo. Since you are using photobucket you only have to select the photo and on the right side, click when it says "Direct" then, the link is copied (It has to notify you).

To post the picture put the link this way [IMG]link of the photo[/IMG]

... I have seen that you are wandering around to post a pic, so I'll give you a few tips.

I usually go to postimage.org . there, its pretty straightforward how to upload it.

then, you just copy the "link 1 for forums" (i advise to copy the miniature one so as not to make people scroll A LOT), and paste it here. the trick is: it already has the bbcode tags, so you don't have to bother with these.

and voilà.

*note: over many years, I have found that postimage.org is one of the easiest services out there. Not that I have anything to do with them, but I know that a simple service does help. Plus, some other services stop working after some time... I HATE when after a while you see the "this picture is there no more" label.
