Wink POLL: What kind of hair elastics do you use?

For many styles a hair elastic of some kind is necessary. Which ones do you use, which ones are your favourite, and why?
For me, nothing but a scrunchie will do. Preferably satin!

I was going to make this an actual poll with options but I have no idea what the actual names for some of them are

Oh, I need to make some scrunchies!

Right now though, I've only got really thin hair elastics, similar to this kind: http://www.target.com/p/gimme-basics...t/-/A-13988882 Mainly because they are the only ones I've found that I can fit around my wrist..

It depends what I'm doing really but either a scrunchie or a metal free bobble (hair tie)

I love satin or silk hair elastics for when I braid my hair at night. These ones in particular are very nice for the price-point and have lasted for a good amount of time!

I use the same kind as askan, but the thicker ones, that are about twice that thickness. I avoid them unless necessary though - I can hold in most styles with pins and hairsticks.

I have the fabric covered elastics, some scrunchies, and the silicone elastics (for the ends of braids). I try to avoid wearing elastics day after day so that my hair doesn't break at the elastic site.

The plain old rubber bands by goodie that don't have any metal. I think these cause less damage

Hair sticks, forks and Ficcares all the way! I got major damage from hair elastics before I joined the boards and learned how to do better updos. I used satin scrunchies and no-metal bands, but the pressure in the same spot and having to pull the hair through them left a line of damage. As my hair grew out after I stopped you could see the line that was formerly at my nape moving down and eventually I had to trim all of that out. (Gradually!)

I do use some little silicone bands for the end of my nightly braid but do not tie them tightly. I'm sure this gives me some damage too, but at least only at the very end. My braid unravels otherwise which would be worse. Braiding at night (and learning not to pile my hair on my head when washing!!!) almost eliminated tangling for me and makes everything so much nicer. I don't use any kind of elastic at the top of braids or to start my buns. My braids are a little more messy on top, but since I am only sleeping in them or putting them up into a bun it doesn't really matter. You'd think after a decade of nightly braiding I'd have perfected having a neat nape by now, but no!

Goody ouchless metal free .. the ones that are supposed to match your hair colour .. my hair is to short yet for much else but as it gets longer I fully intend on investing in some silk/satin scrunchies
