I agree with what Chromis said. I wear my hair up most of the time, I avoid getting it trapped behind my back when I sit, I use a sleep cap or braid at night, I detangle carefully with a wide tooth comb, etc., but I still don't think I'm paranoid. Breakage happens. Damage happens. I take good care of my hair, but I don't worry much if I accidentally rip through a tangle or get my hair caught on something.

All I do with my hair is braid it, bun it, brush it, and wash it 1 or 2 times a week...that's seriously it. So, I guess I'm not so paranoid.

I voted "not paranoid at all," although I do see Chromis' and KittyBird's points about defining paranoia and good long-term long hair care.

For me personally, though, I've surpassed my length goal, so I'm not that worried about damage, because I'm contemplating a trim or a cut, anyway. As such, I've been wearing it down more often, washing it more often, and today, I'm wearing a ponytail for the first time since I was BSL!

You're not paranoid, if it is real are you?

I might need to mull this one over a bit... I am paranoid enough to have a satin pillowcase and try to wear it up more than I would other wise. But I am not paranoid enough to not enjoy wearing it down when it is all clean and shiny. I am paranoid enough to have given up brushes and combs, but not paranoid enough to stop letting it blow about in the wind.

It seems to split whatever I do anyway, therefore I am not paranoid, it is real?

I voted moderately paranoid. I'm not fussy about a pillowcase anymore, I keep my hair loose even when I sleep, and I let it get caught under backpack straps and the like. However, I use coconut oil before a wash every single time, and I always use a leave-in religiously. As tempting as it is, I don't brush my hair vigorously, and I detangle with my fingers. Heat is out of the question most days, save for very special occasions.

I don't know if I'm essentially more paranoid, just more aware of the damage I can to do my hair now. I don't rip through my hair when combing or brushing, rarely heat style, I try to avoid sulfates when possible (need them to clarify chlorine out of my hair...), and I constantly "feed" my hair with coconut oil. Other than preventative measures... I don't think I'm obsessive. I don't sit and search for split ends constantly.

I voted for moderately paranoid. My hair is soft and can require extra care not to damage it so I'm always aware of it and try to protect it.

Voted 3 - Moderately paranoid. Because I try to be as gentle as I can with my hair and take care of it. But I am not obsessive about it. I still like when other people touch my hair and I let children play with it even though they are not always gentle.
