Gorgeous! It looks like a cross between Art Nouveau and Celtic, really lovely.

I'm terrible at taking pictures, but here's one of me wearing one of my slides today. This one is "rose gold" or whatever coating they put on the base metal to make it slightly pinkish colored. I have a "gold" one and a silver one in the identical style.

I've heard somewhere that using these for a half-up when your hair is very long can cause traction alopecia. Is that true??

Any style that is too tight or pulls too much can cause traction alopecia. Slides or half ups shouldn't cause it any more than any other style or hairtool, though. At least not that I know of. Slides are essentially a stick with an accessory, and sticks are considered quite safe for hair as long as the hair itself isn't pulled too tight.

No. You will feel if it's pulling on your hair. And there are many half ups out there, just as there's buns and braids. Any type of too tight updo during a long period of time can hurt you, but it will also feel uncomfortable.
