Why is that so funny to me? Probably because mine takes 8 hours to air dry. I let it air dry 2 hours today and then diffused and that was faster than usual. At least I can do that.
My thought for the day:
Think I will give up layers. I want a deep U shaped cut with a face frame where the shortest strands hit the cheekbones. The reasons are:
--Layers are making my ends look straggly.
--They don't give me the volume at the top that I want. Nothing does.
--All that crown layers do is create weird right angles. Whatever spirals I have are looooong; they take 4 inches to complete themselves. The waves can be tight but some are very loose and the ends stick up when they are shorter than 6 or 7 inches.
The way my hair is, it won't be triangle head if it's blunt. Well, maybe it will. I don't think I'll mind.

I've reached the length where I have to modify how I brush my hair. I can no longer reach the ends with a regular brush stroke. Exciting!

Mini goals: BSL braid ~ WL braid ~ HL braid ~ Crown braid
This reminds me of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books. The young girls of her time wore their hair in one or two plaits, but once they got older (and their hair got longer), they would wrap and pin the braids to their heads, or they would do updos sort of like those. At one point when Laura was in her teens (which would have been in the 1880s), bangs came into fashion, and after some pleading with her parents, Laura gave herself a little fringe that she would curl. After traveling somewhere and removing their hats and cloaks, she and her friends would re-fluff their bangs. It was a detail I always found amusing.
I definitely should take inspiration from the rule in the last picture you posted: "The hair must not be drawn back unbecomingly from the face, but must rather be full and loose, to give a softening effect." My hairstick buns don't comply!
Wishing you all love, joy, and peace!
I'm visiting family in India right now, and (now that I've become hair-obsessed and notice it everywhere) it seems like long hair here is longer on average than I'm used to. As in, plenty of people still have shorter hairstyles (shoulder length, bob, etc), but those who have long hair often have it down to tailbone or even classic! Fewer people in the midback abyss like me -- it's either short hair, or very long. It's pretty cool to see!
Definitely! I've already been asking around for hair tips, and so far the main ones are coconut oil and henna -- which of course, a lot of LHCers already do My aunt also said that she cuts up some curry leaves (I think that's what it's called in English, not sure though) and puts them in her coconut oil before warming it and putting it in her hair, which I think I'll try next time.
I was just sitting here having a coffee, catching up on the latest LHC posts while finger detangling before I have a shower ... Aaaaaaaagh! I have got a big pile of shed hair here! I'm not usually one of those people who keeps track of their outgoing hair, and I certainly won't do it again.
