When I was a kid it was mousy with blond highlights, but after my crazy teenage blue hair and big chop, it grew back dark with red highlights like all my sisters have.

I haven't seen my brown hair in many years I hated my Color it was just so boring a medium ashy gold brown people called mousy, people can choose mean names for hair colours ( like dirty blond) I'm starting to go grey so I just want to give my hair a break from permanent dyes and see one last time how ugly it is naturally.
So I might lurk here to try and pretend to like my Color as it grows

Hey I was wondering if there was a thread like this! Thanks for the bump, Bat

My hair used to be what people call "mousy" but it has darkened considerably and even changed shade with age!
These are both virgin hair in sunlight, the left being from high school and the right being from April of this year.

And I'll throw in this bonus pic from not too long ago because I just really like it
Even though my hair is approximately the same length as the April pic (due to massive trim) I can see the growth! My bangs were nose length!

Cause it is I'm not a fan of brown hair, black is usually my preference

The darker is ok but the golden bits I'm not a fan of

But just think, Bat... if on anyone else would you call it ugly?

The golden streaks could well be from sun bleaching, which you can protect your hair from. As 0xalis demonstrates above - your colour can change with age too.

Love your little hairs, they’re totally unique, and they’re yours.

I can't answer that, it depends on the person and their texture, but on me I feel boring and not myself

I think that's a pretty brown colour Bat!

But I can understand what you are saying. And I think that a feeling of having a wrong virgin colour is not that rare.

I like really dark hair too, and I would prefer black on myself. I have had my hair dyed black several times for several years, and that's when I felt like myself, colorwise... I thought my virgin colour would have been dark brown. Well, it wasn't...

This is my third time when I'm growing out my virgin colour as adult. In the 2 previous times I kept my virgin colour (shoulder/APL length) for some time and then I just felt too bored with it. I felt the colour was ok, but not really for me and not what I wanted.

But time and patience will help, for real. And this forum, it can really help you to brainwash yourself to appreciate all hair colours, even your own, lol.
