My hair looks opaque and strange when straightened (although the hair I have now has never seen heat), and in decent condition when curly. I have very coarse, thick strands, and they twist onto themselves, so they dont drape or bend easily.
I think that since she's used to seeing product-heavy curly hair, and uses a lot of product herself, she forgets hair just isn't "like that" naturally. Not that there's anything wrong with styling hair, but hair that gets leave-in and gel every single day is obviously going to look different from hair that only gets shampoo and conditioner.

Isn't glossy hair just a flat cuticle, or product that mimics this? So sure, damaged hair tends to be less glossy. But it doesnt mean all hair that isnt glossy is damaged. ...This person needs some venn diagrams in their life.

I'm growing out bleach and color for two years now, I can tell you my untouched extremely healthy hair isn't shiny or glossy.
