    Here's my recipe:

    - 1 egg, beaten
    - Mayonnaise (I use about 3/4 cup but my hair is just shoulder length)
    - Olive oil (1/4 c.)

Mix together, glop into your hair, leave on for an hour, rinse with COOL water unless you like scrambled egg bits in your hair

I usually follow up with a rich conditioner.

Egg yolks. The last time my roommate baked an angelfood cake, I had him save me the yolks, and my hair loved it.

1 Tablespoon low sodium soy sauce or Bragg's Liquid Aminos in 1 Cup of water. Pour this over your clean, wet hair, and leave it on for the length of your shower. Rinse well, and follow with a good moisturizing conditioner.

I agree with eggs. My hair loves them!

    2 eggs
    1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp olive oil (add to mix only if your hair tends to feel dry afterwards)
    1 tsp honey

I mix it up and leave it in until I feel it drying up. I like to spread it on my skin also, sort of like a clarifying mask. My hair and skin are always very happy after! No need to do anything special after rinsing it out.

Another one I've heard of is coconut milk or coconut cream.

REALLY??! soy sauce?! I would never have thought of that! What about soy milk? and why must it be low sodium? Is that because salt tends to draw out moisture?

Sorry for all the questions; I don't want to hijack the thread, just curious!

PS: what about milk or yogurt? or whey from making home made yogurt?

I know this is a silly question (new) but how do you know when your hair needs protein vs moisture?

thanks for all the suggestions, everyone - these are awesome!

lanfear, i was wondering the same thing - i read the article on it in the archives, but i'm still not sure .... my hair feels soft and conditioned, and i do oil it once a week with coconut oil, but lately its clumping up kinda limp and at the same time is very, very flyaway. don't use any 'cones, so it can't be 'cone buildup ....

off to try some eggs and mayo and soy sauce! (maybe make dinner, too!
