Tight and braided all the way down and to keep things even neater, up and bunned!
Loose, flow-y, and romantic!
No-nonsense and tight!
Somewhere in-between!
Both are good!/It depends on the day!
My sister and I were talking the other day and realized that we're polar opposites when it comes to braids! I like really loose and romantic braids. The kind that swing over your shoulder when you turn your head and have baby hairs and whispies and tendrils falling out to frame the face. I also like to tie off my braid kind of soon and leave a decent chunk free. My sister can't stand these kinds of braids and prefers super tight, no-nonsense braids that don't move at all and she braids it down as far as it can go. Nothing wrong with either of these opinions, but it got me curious as to what the majority of LHC prefers in their braids!

How do you get your braid up into a bun?? I can never figure it out lol. If I want a braided bun I have to put a ponytail at the top of my head, braid the ponytail, then twist it into a bun and bobby pin the stuffing out of it!

If it's long enough you can bun it with a stick. Otherwise I suggest spin pins. I've never ponytailed first. I don't know if that works better.
Anyway, I like my braids in the middle in that I don't like braid shred but I do like a bit of a tassel at the end.
Tight and bunned (unless I’m lounging around/sleeping, then it can be just a braid) Any loose romantic braid is going to almost immediately disintegrate into nothing. My braids also go straight down in back. Over the shoulder braids only work if they are pinned up in a coronet.

Mod hat off. Mod hat on. Don't make me wear the mod hat, it messes up my hair. *grin*
The tighter the better! But my hair is so soft, it literally falls out of every braid. "Whispies" are unavoidable.

Both! though I don't have to try for the soft romantic look, my braid shreds like crazy. I have to work for tight and smooth! Either wet hair or oiled.

Loose and romantic is not an option for me.
My hair shred does not look like wispies and tendrils; more like a bottle brush around my face, because it's not heavy enough to lay down. The braid itself will quickly shred until it isn't recognizable. You can tell there is something in there, but most of the outside just looks like a messy ponytail. The few turns before the tassel will look like a braid, only because the elastic confines it. Nape area shreds immediately.
It isnt a style I can do. I with I could. It looks so nice on other people, but isn't possible for me.
ETA: --> No nonsense and tight!

henna keeps it red, and red makes me happy.
Pixied for 15+ years and liked it.
Growing for fun.
Tight I suppose. I do braided buns a lot, they seem to sit well fastened.
