I think Dutch perfect classic braids look way fancier than they are difficult. Dutch classic instructions: http://www.dreamweaverbraiding.com/braids/classic.htm

So I'm in hairdressing school, and I've also applied for an apprenticeship at a major salon and aced the interview and they'd like me to come back for a second interview tomorrow afternoon. They'd like to see some styles that I've done because I told them I've experiemented with upstyling on my friends. I'm emailing some photos of stuff I've done to the manager tonight and I've asked my sister to come around tomorrow around lunch so I can do her hair and take her into the salon with me when I go for my interview. She has below shoulder length dark 2c hair that is quite fine.
I'd like to go for something quite regal and sophisitcated.. possibly something you'd expect to see on the red carpet or on a bridesmaid.
I need ideas! I don't have a LOT of experience doing complicated upstyling so I need something that is going to be easy but looks complicated...if you know what I mean.
I've been thinking of a sock bun but with a bit of a twist.. or something =/
Please please please message back with ANY ideas you might have.
Thank you so much!

A pretty simple but very cute and romantic style is the bridal bun.
I think you can also do ist with shorter hair, if it's not too thick.
But maybe it's a bit too simple..?
Maybe this? Only more orderly, perhaps!
Congratulations! I hope you get the apprenticeship
I thought maybe the 'formal Brookie updo' would do, but as I was going through the articles section to find it, I found some others that might help to. Here's what I found:
Isilya's woven bun
The sock bun variation article
Formal Brookie updo
September 2013 - waist length (though not on its best day!)
Back to the LHC regime, let's finally get past waist length!

Thanks so much! I'm going to try out some different braiding techniques. I was actually thinking of curling her hair, seperating it into a centre part and doing two side braids down each side to the back and then sort of creating a tuck with the rest of the hair. If that would work.

Congratulations! You should find lots of information on LHC, plus you will be a great resource yourself.
I think the Squiggly Updo has some potential. I saw it on a real person once or twice a few years ago, and it looked beautiful (and complicated). It's a simple concept (just twist and pin), but as a stylist you could probably do a lot with it (ends in, ends out, curled, etc.). It would make a lovely prom/bridal style.
I love this do. I just haven't had a chance to try it.
