A goal for me for a while is to reach the little "bump" at the base of my neck, and I'm now like 2 inches past that. APL here I come!!

P.S. Sorry for the awful picture. I am apparently really bad at hair photos.
Your colour and texture are lovely!

I'm joining in here. I'm on my way to unknown lengths, but currently headed for APL. My siggy is a recent length shot

Welcome back, Stagecoach!! I used to adore your old siggy pic (not sure if I ever told you).

Slowly but surely growing. I just want it long already.

My hair is now long enough that when it's down, I can really feel it on my neck and shoulders. It's great because it means that it's growing! But it's also annoying because I can't make use of most hair toys yet to keep it up and out of the way (meaning ponytails are pretty much all I've got. I only intend to use the ponytail until my hair can be better braided or bunned)

    Thank you so much, SaraJayne.

Stagecoach: You're hair is beautiful! I'm right about the same length, and have a similar hair type. Hopefully we'll make it to APL soon.

irodayrne: I feel you. For me, growing over my shoulders was the worst part. My hair is super straight, but would do weird flips off my shoulders. Low ponytails were all I could do and it drove me crazy. Now I can get it all in a braid, and it's almost long enough to wear a braid as a "style" I think. Hang in there! It gets better!! Still can't wait to be able to use hair toys though.

I can sort of get my hair into a french braid, but it doesn't feel secure and stable enough to wear out (because short hair means that the added strands don't go all the way down the braid, so it feels likely to unravel). I can get the teensiest, tiniest pigtail braids, which is nice for sleeping, but look a little silly out in public. I imagine that if my hair were thinner, I could get peacock twists held up with my jeter fork, but right now the hair from my crown just kind of..... explodes out the top, so it ends up looking silly.

But soon. Every day my hair grows just a little bit, and every day I get a little bit closer to being able to do proper updos.

You certainly do! I keep playing with my hair and trying styles (I'm pretty untalented when it comes to my hair, so the keyword is "trying"). It's always lovely when you try out a style your hair couldn't do a few months ago and find that that extra in or so made it possible. My braid still has bits that fly out towards the bottom. The braid stays secure but looks frayed ... Not cute. Pigtail braids are my go-to for sleeping and working out, but they look a little too ... Young, maybe? I feel silly with them too, especially since they're kind of stumpy on my hair length.

I'll feel like I've "made it" when I can do a high bun/topknot style without a bunch of pins in the back! I've always wanted to do those effortlessly cute high buns, and my hair has never been long enough to do a proper one. Some day!

Thank you, let's grow together! It's been so long since I grew out, I totally don't know what to expect! Last time i was not using good hair practices at all, this time all my hair has been babied and doctored for years, so I don't have damage to grow out.

Why not do two French braids? That's my staple at shoulder.
