Does anyone know how to make a faux-bob from our length of hair? It would be a welcome change every now and then, yes? I have tried several times but can't seem to get it work. Either my hair feels too thin, too short, or the front layers don't cooperate. Ideas??? Tutorials???

I've never tried a faux bob myself, but would be really interested in any experienced tips! I think it's a really lovely look, particularly with some vintage style waves. I know you can get a 'kit' for faux bobs, but have no idea if it is utterly pants or not... I shall be watching with interest for any recommendations!

I take really good care of my hair, deep conditioning and oiling and everything else, and the ends don't really look damaged, there are no splits and only some occasional white dots, but the ends just feel bad compared to the rest of my hair. So damn crunchy if I don't constantly pamper them to keep them feeling okay. At this point I feel like I may be over thinking and perhaps have become overly critical about the quality of my hair, so I'll let the stylist look at them and decide. If the ends need to go, I will be okay with that. Of course I want longer hair sooner, but not with raggedy ends.
Good luck.....let us know how it goes. The last professional cut I had the stylist trimmed a bit and I asked her when I should come back as I was growing it out.......she said whenever you can't stand it, I haven't been back....that was over a year ago. I wouldn't go now after hearing all the horror stories here, but I know that every stylist doesn't do big chops when you want a wee trim. It really is not hard to trim yourself......I am interested in what she thinks of your ends.

I have stylist who is a friend and I trust her with hair decisions. I'm not feeling the need to trim right now, and learned to shorten my own bangs, so I will probably see her in 6 months or so, but I hope she will do great job reshaping my layers without trimming off to much. Good luck with your visit.

Sounds like you reached a good decision. I still can't access the archives, but I came across one of my old threads and what the hairstylist at Sally's said to do was a protein pak left on overnight the first night, and a deep conditioner the second night. Repeat weekly. This was specific to bleach and hair dye damage. Just for future reference for you or anyone. Good luck with the stylist.

I am now in the "can I call" stage of shoulder! It reaches where I consider shoulder to begin when wet and has even been tickling when dry. Heck, its almost ready to start flipping outward! I'll probably move over here by Halloween.

I've reached a new milestone. I can now reach behind my back and grasp the ends of my hair firmly in my fingers. I just couldn't do it last week!

I'm new to this group! Had been part of the short short group, took a break and when I came back I had grown out of that group and past the should length group! Right now I'm hitting my collarbone (without straightening my hair). My biggest concern as I grow it out is that I seem to have a little more shedding. I had a stressful event and lost about 1/2 and inch of ponytail diameter my goal is to hit BSL and have thick healthy hair. I blow dry my bangs but no heat on anything else.

Anyone have any suggestions as to protective hair styles I can wear while sleeping? My hair isn't quite long enough to properly put into a braid without pulling.

I put my hair in a twist or bun with spin pins for sleeping. They don't hurt my head. I found some in the Dollar Tree, 2 for $1. Much cheaper than the Conair and Goody brands and appear to be the same quality. Sometimes I French braid.

Thanks for the idea of sleeping in spin pins! I never would have tried that, but I will tonight. That should help my cowlicks stay put while I'm sleeping, and then I can find an easy updo for 2nd day hair so I don't have to wash it every day. My hair is too thin for most updos.
