Hello! Yes, it does right? But I'm just throwing it in a pony tail and trying not to think about it too much. But it's cool that we have the same thing to look forward to!
    (2016, where are you?? )

I know how you feel! I have a very long neck and longer upper body (and smaller legs, lol). So I also think that my hair will have to creep down some more inches to reach that milestone...

From pixie to shoulder took 2 years, but thatw as with first growing it into a bob, then letting it grow. I always trim often too, and my hair grows the avarage 1 cm per month (at least did when I measured years ago; I have not measured lately and won't either). I am also tall with long torso and long neck (though my waist is high).

I'm at a phase where I don't think my hair almost at all. I am very immersed in writing and studying, and I just want to put it up so it's off my face and neck, and not bother with it. I love these phases! I do enjoy the phases where I do all kinds of hairstyles, they are fun, but the minimalist phases are nice too.
Very jealous of you. I'm hoping to get the same peace of mind as you. :-) I'm trying not to think about it too much, but it's hard. Going for a run and studying does help, but since I'm graduating soon ... Got to find me some more hobbies ;-)

For once I appreciate my short neck haha. I did the towel test yesterday and I have about an 1.5" to go until I'm APL! If my growth drops to the average .5 like it did a few months ago I'll be there in about 3 months but if I keep up my usual .75-1" I'll be there in 2 months or less!! Pixie to APL in 20 months isn't too bad right?! I gave myself a trim on Sunday too so I shouldn't need another until september most likely (but I do have a bad habit of overtrimming in the summer). I'm super excited to hit another milestone!

It's when you wrap a towel around you under your arms so you can see a straight line from armpit to armpit to help judge how close to apl you are!

I have no clue when I'll reach APL because I don't have a tape measure. I'm at CBL now. Any chance it will grow to APL by Christmas? I hope so.

I am at shoulder length too!!! ( but only a few strands my hair in front, is at chin length )... I really cant wait to reach arm pit length... I was stuck at shoulder length for a few years because my hair just got in horrible condition that I always had to cut it... now I am heavily oiling the ends and hopefully it will grow!!!

Eleven, I'm sure you'll get into the calm state of mind too. Yeah, having hobbies helps; LHC is extremely nice place to learn about hair care and to socialize, but it horrible place to sit around and wait your hair to grow
Congrats on soonto-be graduation! Mine is not hopefully too long ahead either, I am aiming for the early autumn!

Illryeth, I have always said that shoulder phase is gruelling, because there is automatically so much mechanical rubbing leading to crappy ends. In nowhere else on your bodies the hair will have to grow past such a obstacle, apart from maybe buttocks, if one grows so long. I think trimming often is important, at least to me it is. What is also important to always stretch the comfort zone a little bit. If you feel you need trimming every 4 weeks, try to do it every 6-8 weeks. But not so long that the ends get really damaged. And always take less that what you grow, to continue gaining length. Keeping your hair up as much as possible helps too.

Oh, and like I think I already mentioned, on my hair what I used to think were bad, damaged ends, turned out to be removable buildup most of the time.

Always behave like a duck -
keep calm and unruffled on the surface but paddle like the devil underneath.

^^ all of this. Shoulder is tricky. It rubs, updo's are barely possible and the ends flip whichever way they like.

But I'm rooting for everyone here, it does get easier. I'm closing in on APL (expected this summer, if I don't trim) and I feel I'm already beyond the really awkward stage.

And bad ends indeed, I had them and contemplated trimming. With better care, my ends got better too. I did trim tiny bits though, basically just a little dusting of the ends.
