Ok so I just finished my first henna I did'nt really notice the smell at all. I did the mermaid rinse then in the shower....easy as could be. Ofcourse my roots were dayglo orange...but I was prepared for that. I mixed up some indigo and left on my roots for 10-15 minutes as almudena had said she had done in another thread. I was afraid of them going pitch black and then having to henna over them again. Its a little bit lighter than the rest of my hair but not by much so i figure with oxidization it should be perfect. Indigo STINKS!!! The only thing I could liken it to was horse pee in a dirty stall...ewwwww. Whenever my hair is dry I will start uploading pics!

This is the method I use (except I kept the indigo on for an hour and really dilute it).
May I ask what your starting color was? Will you be able to post a before pic as well as after?

I'm trying to keep my hair a darker auburn/brown. (I need to update my avatar). I'm afraid to do too much henna/indigo because I don't want to go too dark. So, I'm always looking around for others with similar hair color to see what they've done.

and a good one of my gray lol
    http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/t...ulip/hairg.jpg

I am very frustrated trying to take my after pics...i look in the mirror and i hold my hair up and its quite distinctly coloured...darrk orange/red. But when I take a pic it shows black which is definetly not what I see when I look at it. I even tried one of my reflection but it wouldnt pic the colour up. I went outside...nothing ...any suggestions or should I wait for nighttime with flash?

I have a very difficult time getting accurate pictures of the henna on my dark brown hair. I never get what I see with my eyes, ever! I have to get a light and shine it a certain way so that it makes the henna reflect, its irritating...i feel your pain. Just keep trying, you'll get a good one somehow, thank god for digital cameras!

It is difficult to capture true henna highlights on dark hair. My hair is black. I went outside when it's sunny. Took pictures of myself as I turned around. (Take dozens of pics!) You can see henna red in some pictures. I find this method very effective to see how my hair actually looks. The color changes.

Yes, I find it difficult to make the photo of my hair showing the true color of it!
Just a few days ago I made a lot of pictures in not so many different lights, but still, every single one shows a different color!
You can see some of those in my Pepper and Paprika album.

I feel Im kind of being dishonest as my hair is definetly not as light as depicted...but the third one shows how they were turning out before I got these...and its definetly not that dark!! but you do get to see how nicely my roots blended in
