I was at a Christmas lunch today and had my hair in a sectioned braided bun. One of the ladies asked me how long my hair was and when I showed her she remarked that her grandmother always used to say to her that if you wear your hair in a braid it means you will live to be 100.

Not on the surface, maybe, however I was thinking about it - if you have a nice long braid it is a reflection on your bodily health allowing you to grow long hair and equally giving you a good chance at a long life.... just a theory of course.

My little brother overheard me telling my mom I wanted to do a protein treatment to strengthen my hair. He came running out of his room with one of the protein bars he keeps in his gym bag for after working out.

Another funny one - an acquaintance of mine told me that her grandmother had classic length hair and her secret for good hair growth was to sit naked in the bath every day and eat an orange

While at first glance that had me confused, it makes a lot more sense than sitting in the bath tub fully clothed and eating an orange. I wonder what the mythical powers of the bath were in this story, but eating an orange every day does seem like a sensible thing to do. You rarely hear of people dying because of their daily orange addiction, after al.
