So I am a section leader for my marching band, and my ex is one of the other prominent members in our section. Anyway, one of our responsibilities is teaching the new freshmen. So the first day I had my hair in a bun with my (chin length) bangs still out, and they were wearing their APL hair down. We were talking to some freshmen, and one of them made a comment about how my ex's hair was longer than mine. To which I dramatically whipped out my TBL hair

Recently I was out with a friend and this happened:

Me: "The girls at work keep calling my hair mermaid hair and I keep wanting to correct them -"

Her, interrupting: "Because mermaids don't have black hair."

Me, annoyed at being interrupted: "No, because obviously I'd be a forest elf. I'm pretty sure if there are mermaids, they could have black hair.'

Her, acting like an authority on the subject: "No, mermaids don't have black hair."

It's the air of authority that struck me as both funny and dumb.

Great, now I'm wondering just how many LHCers groped themselves after reading that post.

Ahh, stargazer, I await my opportunity for that someday...
The other band members probably have the best info in how long my hair is, because they've seen it in a braid a lot. The rest of the time, it's in a bun. I can't figure out how to wear a hat and a bun. Curse you, sun in Texas!

I got one of the "Oh My G*d, I didn't realize your hair was so long!!" comments today. I really never know what to say to those. "How long did you think it was?" and "Is it really that long? I saw someone with at least tailbone length hair walking around here the other day . . . "

Me: (back turned to DH, digging around on the entry way table, moves some papers and happens upon my silver ficcare missing for more than a month) GASP! Ohhhhhh!"

DH: "What, did you find some hair toy that you didn't know where it went?"

I was talking to my friend on the phone while perusing the board when I came across a thread about spin pins. I mentioned that I'm still tempted to buy them. He mentioned that we'd decided that was a bad idea, since stuff gets lost in my hair. "Then why do I still want them?" asked I. "Because they're shiny new hair toys--" I interrupted him to say that I'm addicted. He understands.
