A ponytail with no bobby pins? That's quite a milestone!

Although it's a bit sobering to see ladies on this thread who've been on this board for years, who have cool hair toys and such, that chopped anyway. I was hoping these things would keep me from chopping again! I guess I'll have to re-think that, and not depend on anything except my own will power and (hopefully!) good sense to keep me away from the !

Boomtownrat I would have called that a pixie, but I don't know anything about short hair! So what is mine then? Whatever yours is, you look great!
Thanks, rags! I don't know the exact definition of a pixie, but I've always kind of thought that it was cropped closer and shaped around the ears. By your photo I can't tell if yours is shaped around the ears, and that might not be part of what makes a haircut a pixie... yours almost looks like a really short bob to me from the front, but I'm going off memory right now and I could be wrong.

Good news- I'm now up to 17 inches of growth. It seems to be speeding along! I'm remembering how fast it seemed to grow at the start last time, too.
Hiya Jane!!! Nope, not bad at all...LOL I have some plans for customs by Christmas. I won't be able to use them by then....but maybe by Jan. or Feb.? My birthday at the latest which is in March.

Thanks - it snuck up on me very quickly. I guess that is a massive advantage of growing out an inverted bob - being longer at the front meant that it all went back at once.

Toys do keep you from chopping for a while - don't lose heart. They kept me from chopping during the difficult phases where I could only do a french twist with a fork/stick, as it was the best way to get some variation in the week. The other funny thing was that people didn't realise that my hair was still around shoulder-length because I had it in a french twist all of the time.

I'll probably be able to use the stick in a half-up at the least, either that or I can be creative and try out a different style involving the stick and some bobby pins. It would be lovely if it was the first stick I got to wear again, although to be honest I am likely to be trying out sticks every couple of weeks from now on. :P

The nice bit about forks is that you can definitely use them at about shoulder-length, provided you don't have too many short layers, and they hold well.

ETA: I just added some growth pictures to my album to give you some idea about where I am length-wise. I compared pictures with last time I grew, and I am about 2 months away from putting it up in a french twist with sticks. I am also going to hit shoulder-length in the next month or so, which is equally exciting. BTW, my album is private, so if you have enough posts, please friend me if you want to see it.

I'm eyeing a timberstone turnings stick right now, and I'm not much of a stick lover. I should be able to do half ups with them in a mont or two. You're about 3" ahead of me. But my hair grows pretty fast. Last time I grew from this it took about 3 months to get to shoulder and another 3 to get to my collarbone. It should, as long as I grow as fast and don't trim, take me a year to get to my goal. I sent you a request, I'd love to see your pics!

Crisdee, you've come a long way and your hair is looking better all the time

Boomtown, shaxie is a good name for where your hair's at now.

While my hair's still this short, well, it's kinda like the bathroom scale - I don't want to know I'd rather go by how tight my clothes fit and where my hair ends and how tight my clothes fit. In both cases, I have a friggin LONG way to go!

I'd guesstimate my hair's grown about an inch since 9/10 when I had my last big chop.

Jane, I think customs are a good idea if you're getting close to being able to wear them! (Of course, you know you're talking to a bona fide hairtoy addict here. ) And I love LadyIdun - their things are marvelous! Congratulations on the ponytail!!

Rymorg - 3 months? Wow!! I am envious of both you and Jane! I guesstimate it will take me a close to a year to have all of mine close to one length at shoulder.

CrisDee Well in my case I had never had short hair in my life. Ever. Between that and DH pushing me to cut it (because he wanted to see what it would look like short for once, and it was damaged from heat styling) well.........
I can safely say I would never have cut it without his encouraging me to do so. But now at least I get to start over with undamaged hair. So take heart! You know you don't like short hair (or don't want it right now) and you'll be much less likely to chop!

I wish this were the case, but I'm afraid I don't have that much sense. This is the third time in my life that I've chopped off all my hair in frustration at something else in my life over which I had no control - so I took out all my frustration at life on my hair. And each time, I've hated the way I look so much that I've let my weight go, so I've ended up overweight with short hair, feeling ugly and hating myself and my life. Foolish, I know. Hopefully I'll have enough sense not to do that again!

I am glad to see I am in such good company with short hair. Mine is maybe an inch and a half, not even an inch in the front where my bangs would be. It is growing, the chemo did a number on my body but everything is coming back. I wear my wigs as to be able to use my toys and I am not brave enough to go out in public with hair this short. It has not been this short since I was a baby. So wigs it is and with a long one, I can use my toys until my hair grows bacik. All the encouragement on this thread is great, thanks to all of you!
