I have curls in the back of my head, but the hair on the sides of my head is more wavy or straight.

I have wavy hair, but the hair close to my face tends to spiral... which is why I had a really hard time hairtyping myself! Because my waves in the back seem like 2a/2b to me, yet I often have loose spiral curls close to my face (my siggy pic is not representative of my hairtype, btw., it was brushed in that pic). But since it does spiral a bit (although not always) I chose 2b/2c. I'm still not sure if that's what I should have chosen, though.

My curl pattern is exactly the same as yours. I have 3a in the front, and 1c or 2a in the back!

I didn't vote, since my curls aren't in once section of my head- it's so varied. The top layers of my hair, in front are almost completely straight but the back has more defined waves. The middle layers of my hair have defined, pretty waves that I wish I had all over. The bottom layers of my hair behind my ears and at my nape are spiral curls that only last a few days after the wash before drooping into waves. Much of my hair has one or two spirals at the end.

I haven't made a final decision on my hair type, but on a humid day I get little corkscrew curls around my ears.

My hair curls significantly more at the sides than at the back. I've got rather persistent ringlets at my temples (I get these at the nape, too, when I've been sweating). When left to its own devices, my hair at the sides is at least a 2a, perhaps even a 2b, with nice, defined waves. The hair at the back is about 1b/1c. If I finger-comb my hair before drying it I get pretty uniform 1c hair. I've found that it's easiest to either go straight or artificially curl my hair, because the hair at the back does seem ok with holding braid and bun waves, it just doesn't like producing them itself.

My hair curls well near my head, then there's a long straight section that doesn't hold well...then the ends curl well. It's irritating.

My hair is curlier in the front than in the back. It could be that the front is shorter, or it could just be how it is.

I have curly hair overall, but several different types (of curl, texture, and color) in different spots. At the front of my head I have nice round M 3a tawny curls that curl from the root, right side is a little curlier than the left. At the crown and back sides of my head the hair is still M and a darker shade of tawny but pretty straight for a few inches, then spirals more moderately, which is why I usually look more like a 2c in my pictures from behind. I have some C 3b ashy curls in two patches behind both ears, and a little patch of silky F golden blonde wavy hair, I guess 2a, right at the nape of my neck (this is the only hair that tangles on my head).

In my neck and close to my face the curls are more thigt (almost spiraling) than my other curly hair, that is more like a sea of waves.
