How long do you wait to wash/CO after henna?

Sorry for necro-ing the thread but I'd never heard of this before, I wash fully with shampoo and conditioner after 4h, I can't imagine rinsing only with water!

When I was a kid we used to jump into the pond after hennaing our hair and rinse it out there. I imagine it was a little easier on the drains at my grandparents' place than a whole bunch of people rinsing henna in the shower on the same day! But these days, pondless, I rinse most of it out in the shower with water, then shampoo immediately.
