And, Um . . . what is "floop" hair?

I want a Baerreis, but I also want to be able to afford one, first. /QUOTE]

That's my problem too. I have to limit the amount of money I spend on toys per month, and in May it was a bellydance DVD, in June it's ficcares; maybe in July I'll get a Baerreis.

I couldn't wait until tomorrow to take pics.

Here is my first Baerreis, an Ursula in Tulipwood:

And in my hair, holding a Tiffanie (Celtic, double loop) knot:

Oooooh, yeah, I'm a happy longhair.

Here's a photo of my Rosebud. Initially it fell out of my hair, but I learned to pinch my hair together while inserting the fork, so that there is more hair between the prongs than if I just shoved it in. Since the space between the prongs is narrower at the opening, the hair compression prevents this fork from falling out of my hair.

How pretty! You chose a wood that looks great next to your hair!

Floop hair: hair that is so sleek that it gets itself out of pretty much any hair toy when not misted first.

    Thanks everyone for the compliments!!

Oh yeah, the label that it came with said: don't get it wet the first month. I asked Martha about this and she said:

Our finish is water resistant - hand rubbed oils (natural tung and linseed)- and as the fork ages, the finish hardens deep within the cells and develops a nice patina. It is similar to fine old furniture finishes. Dampness does not hurt it.

Basically, I am asking you to not get it soaking wet - It is wood and wood loves to absorb water... Damp hair is not a problem - but maybe wearing it in a shower is. It is mostly a pro-active request while the finish cures. You can always put a bit of lip balm (which is oil and wax) on it if you are worried.

At the moment, I have the following things from Baerreis:

    Moderne fork, cocobolo

    Moderne fork, wenge

    Ursula fork, bubinga

Plain and simple fork, macassar ebony

Plain and simple fork, Bolivian rosewood

Top to bottom: Nautilus fork in African blackwood, Finny fork in Gabon ebony, Cygnus fork in Bolivian rosewood, Lucky cranes sticks in cocobolo

2abc/f/ii, almost done growing out henna after 5+ years. Maintaining at tailbone in an attempt to thicken up the ends.
