    How long is your...:
Starting Length?: I really don't remember...14 inches I think it was below shoulder but before BSL
    Current Length?: Just at waist
Goal Length?: I'm not sure, at least classic though

How long have you been growing?
I have had long hair most of my life but this time around, about August 2007. Back then I had just cut off lots of dye/neglect/flatiron damage.

You feel the urge for change:
Not usually. If I do, it's color or style

    Do you like shorter styles?
Yes, depending on which style! I just think that for me, long hair is best.

What could be a reason for you to cut?
Frayed/split ends that look bad and will never get better.

And what reason do you have to keep it long?
Because, it''s "me"! I think it's pretty, feminine, sensual, and unique.

    How long is your...:
    Starting Length?: Barely Shoulder
    Current Length?: Close to BSL
Goal Length?: A bit past waist (around 32")

How long have you been growing?
    ~8 months

You feel the urge for change:
Only on really dry/tangly hair days when my ends feel like they will break off at any moment.

    Do you like shorter styles?
Yes, I'm a fan of shoulder length layered bobs and I honestly think I would look great even with chin length hair because of my face shape.

What could be a reason for you to cut?
    Breakage.

And what reason do you have to keep it long?
Long hair is just so much more romantic, unique and valuable.
It is also in better condition than it's been in a long time, so it might as well be long.

    _____
    Bottom Line:
I will continue with this journey for some years, working on my ends and maintaining at my goal. I will only cut my hair shorter if for some reason it becomes severely damage or starts shedding ridiculously like if I ever have kids. Then I would probably just start afresh.

    How long is your...:
    Starting Length?: waist
    Current Length?: classic
Goal Length?: classic was my goal :-)

How long have you been growing?
Since a couple months before I joined LHC, but I let it grow long before that without much thought.

You feel the urge for change:
Sometimes, usually when I'm having a really bad hair day.

    Do you like shorter styles?
Yes, but I love fiddling with updos.

What could be a reason for you to cut?

I have fiddled with the idea of dying my hair funky colours.

And what reason do you have to keep it long?
I love being able to try different styles. The versitility is a bit plus, and I like how I look with long hair. It's unique.

    _____
    Bottom Line:

I doubt that I'll go shorter than tailbone anytime in the future. I just love my hair too much. I think I'd be tempted to dye my hair an odd colour and cut it to about BSL, but I would get bored of that length very quickly. I forsee myself having long hair for a very long time.

    How long is your...:
    Starting Length?: Between Shoulder/BSL
Current Length?: Possibly Classic - need to update my avatar
    Goal Length?: Terminal

How long have you been growing?
Maybe since 1997 but with many big trims in between.

You feel the urge for change:
Sometimes. But whatever change it is, it wouldn't involve cutting.

    Do you like shorter styles?
    Not at all.

What could be a reason for you to cut?
If I grew it down to the floor and it was too hard to manage, I might cut it back up to classic.

And what reason do you have to keep it long?
It just seems like the natural thing to do. There's something extra sensual about having long hair (not weird sensual!).
    _____
    Bottom Line:
I like having long hair and will attempt to keep it that way as long as I can. My take on women (especially 'moms') that cut their hair short is that they are giving up a part of their femininity. Not all, of course, but I know some that have done it for that reason and they regret it. It never got in my way while taking care of my babies, gee whiz, just bun it!

    How long is your...:
Starting Length?: Just grazing the scalp. I'd kept it Bic-ed for while, because it was badass.
Current Length?: About two/three inches from shoulder. I can smell the sweet success.
Goal Length?: Waist or TB, depending on what I can handle.

How long have you been growing?
Since, uh, last month. Technically. I've been growing out my hair since 2007, but I had no definitive idea on where I wanted it to be.

You feel the urge for change:
Aside from it being longer, no. I do color it, though.

    Do you like shorter styles?
It depends on who it's on, I suppose.

What could be a reason for you to cut?
    Severe damage, unattractive hemline.

And what reason do you have to keep it long?
It's more of a personal experiment than anything. Also, I don't wear a lot of makeup or revealing/interesting clothing, and so I feel the need to have something sort of flashy and fun on me to play with.
    _____
    Bottom Line:
Basically, the idea of growing my hair long seems really fun. Also, I love this board because since I got here (both registered and lurking), my hair has improved ten-fold from the advice the members have given me. So, even if I never get to TB or beyond, I will have some luscious locks.

    How long is your...:
    Starting Length?: Shoulder
Current Length?: About a cm past bra strap
Goal Length?: At least tailbone, dreaming of knee and/or terminal, but depends on how I find it to handle.

How long have you been growing?
    1997 (self - mostly unsuccessfully I might add.)/ 2008 (with LHC)

You feel the urge for change:
Sometimes and usually when I'm not feeling good about myself. Less often since I joined LHC.

    Do you like shorter styles?
Yes, they can look great in magazine photos. They do have a tendency to look "unfinished" though, like part of the hair is missing.

What could be a reason for you to cut?
Not being able to accept fairytale ends on myself after years of blunt cuts. Perhaps if it got really thin, but still undecided on this. I might keep it anyway.

And what reason do you have to keep it long?
I want to find out what it's like to have long hair, rather than just admiring it on other people and I want to do something for myself that I've always wanted to do.

    Bottom Line:
I won't say for ever and ever, because I don't know what the future holds (and don't want to jinx it), but I think I'll be a long hair for quite a long time. I might not get to terminal, but I don't want to go any shorter than what it is now and preferably not even this short. Having it long is something that I'm doing for me. For once, I'm claiming what I want without consideration to how other people feel about it and it's rather refreshing.[/QUOTE]

    How long is your...:
    Starting Length?: APL in 2006ish?
    Current Length?: just BSL!
Goal Length?: TB, ideal is knee, but i'll see if i can pull off tb first

How long have you been growing?
My whole life and chopping and re growing. The last chop was in 2006 to apl from damage and a baaaad hair cut!

You feel the urge for change:
All the time since i ruined my hair, previously, very rarely. I just want my old hair back!

    Do you like shorter styles?

I think they would look good on me, since my hair isn't as thick as it used to, but i'm more a long hair by personality.

What could be a reason for you to cut?
Too much taper and just feeling let down, like my hair isn't good enough all the time.

And what reason do you have to keep it long?
It's more me, more special and unique and I think it is very fairytale/fantasy/rare type cool. If my hair was as it was in the past i would be all for it now being long! No hints of wanting it short as i am now!

Current Length?: a little past hip
Goal Length?: untill it starts falling in my toilet, around tailbone :P

How long have you been growing?
    I don't really know, 5 years?

You feel the urge for change:
not really, but I decided I'll get dreadlocks once, because I really want them.

    Do you like shorter styles?
Not on myself, I look horrible, and it's just not me

What could be a reason for you to cut?
Growing virgin hair (hennaed right now), getting rid of dreads probably

And what reason do you have to keep it long?
    Do I need a reason?
    It's just who I am.
    _____
    Bottom Line:
Even if I cut it, It's going to be because I'll want to have looong silver hair when I'm old and want a fresh start. I think I'm basicaly going to be a longhair forever, maybe with slight experimenting.

How long have you been growing?
    2004(self)/ 2007 (LHC)= 5 yrs.

You feel the urge for change:
Often. That's when I try a new updo or hairtoy. And in winter when it's static mania every time I try to comb my hair. However, I'm so happy I can put it in an updo, with short hair it would be just yet another bad hairday with no salvation from the static nightmare.

    Do you like shorter styles?
Yep. There are many nice ones. I look good in some of them too. But I don't feel good with short hair. And, of course, I'm far too lazy to have to fix my hair for 15-20 minutes every morning. Not to mention the constant visits to a hairdresser, cutting it to keep it looking good. Any short hairdo, no matter how stylish, just grows out of shape so quickly and immediately loses any stylishness it might have had.

What could be a reason for you to cut?
If something serious happened that simply ruined my hair, like chemo or alopecia. Or if I got very ill and/or senile and couldn't take care of it myself. You can't expect other people to have to care for your long hair on top of everything else. Long hair is something that makes me happy, but at the same time I know it's a luxury that I can survive without, although very reluctantly.

And what reason do you have to keep it long?
I just love the feeling! Being a fine hair, it's not very thick, but it is super soft. Like a luxurious silky fur cape, without any animal having had to suffer.
I love the way it feels in my hands and on my skin. Purely sensuous! Like having a super soft, cuddly little kitten than you can take everywhere.. It's magic!
    _____
    Bottom Line:
I have no plans to cut it in the foreseeable future. No, make that: I have no plans to cut. Period. (Apart from trims) Mainly because I'd love to find out, once in my life, just how long it can get. Since I'm 50+ it feels like high time - now or never.
I voted that I'd remain a longhair for a long time. Although, technically "Forever" could end tomorrow, it could also be a very, very long time. I don't like to commit to anything for that long. Let's just take one day at a time.
