I get waves when I put my hair in a bun high on top of my head, after washing my hair. I wait to do this until my hair is almost dry.

I curl my hair with cheese
If I leave mine alone after taking out of the microfiber towel, I get wavy, fat curls. If I plop in a microfiber t-shirt after de-toweling, I get skinnier, tighter curls. I prefer the fat spirals.

Lets see how long this little lump can get. Viva la natural!Lady Nemetona, Adept of the Henna Flame in the Order of the Long Haired Knights
Wow, so many different and unexpected responses! I am learning a lot and I can't wait to do more experimentation with how to bring out my waves. Also I want to start a new poll with more options like braiding and damp bunning. Also just leaving to air dry untouched.
Reached BSL November 2013!
Goal: tailbone
I only have really very slight waves in my hair but what I like to do is twist it into two cinnabuns on each side of my head an stick an old chopstick through each and let it set like that for about half an hour before shaking them out
I scrunch to improve curl formation and plop for an hour or two just to keep the wet hair from annoying me as it dries. I don't sleep with the plop, though, cause that really doesn't end well.
I love my curls when I just leave them, but most of the time I scrunch.
Love all of everybodies curls!
I voted other; Just don't touch it. I reduces the frizz, and makes the curls way more shiny

i usually just wash, air dry, then flip and scrunch a few times once it's dry to fluff out the curls. i tend to do the "wild/messy/curly/bedhead" thing most of the time.
when i want better shape and more curl i'll twist 1" to 2" chunks of wet hair at the root, making sure to go the natural way of the curl (going against the curl totally funks things up). sometimes my hair needs to be coaxed into curling.
i have a spray bottle of plain water that i mist my hair with when i need to work with it, usually in the morning before going out. this way i don't have to wet my hair down to get curls, just a bit of mist is enough to make my hair curl.
i do... nothing, just let it dry and what i get is a random combination of curls, hoops, rolls and waves. the hair that does not shape into anything just needs a little finger-twirl.
if i want something specific i can wrap it around a barette, do little buns, scrunch it into a messy bun, etc... to sleep and get a different look in the morning (i don't have to dampen it but it could help).
to have my hair wavy-ish takes few days after being washed and sleeping with it loose so the curls/waves/whatever flattens (avatar pic).
after a week it separates into lock-rolls, i like these but then... time to condition and un-tangle before i get dreads.
i just got used to have the result of the day before hair do as far as "curls" are concerned.
i only brush it when i "wash" it.
the amusing thing is i am often thought to spend much more time on my hair than i do.
which is basically usually 5seconds max in the morning according to what hair do is convenient for the day as the 3hours monthly bleach+dye is enough for time here *;O)
