I'm considering growing out my layers. My plan is to self-trim the bottom 1/2" every three months. So I thought I'd jump on the thread.
I have a lot of unintentional layers due to postpartum shedding and a deficiency I’m still fighting after one year. Shortest “layer” is 2-3 inches. It is random clumps all throughout my hair. It definitely doesn’t look on purpose. I look insane when I wake up in the morning with 2-3 inch clumps of hair poking up, while the rest of my hair is near HL. Not sure what to do about it now other than just grow it out
Last trim 12-10-23

I keep cutting my layers back in after trying to grow them out - I feel like they add some volume, but they're really annoying when I want to put my hair up, so I always end up regretting it. If only layers could just grow out overnight!
I've decided to grow out my undercut as well as my curtain bangs, so anticipating having some crazy layers for a while! I can't decide if I want to grow long and deal with the layers later, or trim as I go so it's even faster but sacrifice length...
I'm growing from a buzz cut that I did about a year ago. I was cutting the back at the nape to make it look less like a mullet, but now I feel like it looks like Javier Bardem in No Country for Old Men, which wasn't what I was going for. So I think I'm going to try to just leave it alone for a while.
I have a good selection of cute hair clips, headbands, hats, and wigs, so hopefully that will get me through the next year of growth.
he does have a cute bob though best luck with this phase, what made it more bearable for me was cutting the back a bit more into a stacked bob. it looks great with wavy hair, like a flapper style (2 and 12 in the picture).
Oooh, those flapper styles are so cute! Thanks for the inspo
