Popping in to say that I like the "mousy brown" and I decided to grow my virgin hair because I thought the color was in that very cold/grey-ish kind of brown shade![]()

This pics are I think an year old but it shows https://imgur.com/a/uwfNo1e . There are no greys, it's the shade of brown to be greyish by itself.
Today I'm going to do something that I have limited to just 3 times since my chop 13 months ago: heat styling.
We have family holiday pictures being taken today and as my husband reminded me, my hair is what makes or breaks my level of satisfaction with myself in photos. I'm notoriously terrible at styling so I will treat myself to a professional blow out and wave. As someone who used to use heat once a week, I'm definitely proud I've avoided it almost entirely for the 13 months since I've decided to take growing seriously.
These pics were about 10 years ago... Trying again from similar to that short pic.
Good for you! I think of heat styling the same way I think of having "cheat days" while on a diet. If you reward yourself once in awhile it doesn't hurt anything, and it may actually increase overall motivation. And, the holidays are a great time to splurge and relax.
I used to heat-style every day, so if I want to blow out my hair once a month or so, I don't worry about it!
Grow grow grow, where it stops no body knows.
Growing out a buzzcut since September 2019
buzz -- mess -- chin -- SL [18.5"] -- APL [22"] -- APL+ [25.5"] -- MBL [27"] -- WL [29"] -- HL [32"] -- TBL [38"]
Ooh - also, I took a length photo today: here it is compared with one from September:
I'm trying to focus less on the milestones than on enjoying the journey, but it does feel nice to be inching slowly closer to APL. September photo is with braid waves, the one from today is more or less my natural texture (I fell asleep with it with last night, so there may have been some pillow-squishing of whurls!).
