Yeah I know. When it happened to me I just tried to rinse like the dickens, but it didn't really get them out. Just had to let the hair dry and then they came out all right with a little picking and fluffing. Not my hair's best moment.

I'm new and am looking forward to trying this. Thanks for all the wonderful tips and I formation.
I'm planning to try this treatment very soon! I got the (clear)Aloe Vera gel from CVS, and I hope my conditioner cooperates! I'll make sure I post my results afterward! Anyone tried this with Biotera Moisture Conditioner?
Thanks!![]()
I tried this last night. I used Aussie Moist conditioner because I have 2 huge bottles I'm trying to use up, aloe vera juice instead of gel as I already had some, and honey. I left it in overnight after clarifying my hair and it feels so soft. It's amazing.
For some reason which escapes me I've never attempted an SMT before. Henndigo tends to be my conditioning treatment but since that's only every 6 weeks I could probably use something in-between. I'm a CO washer and use aloe regularly so I have plenty of both to hand.
One question (though I'm sure this has been answered at some point in the past) - I'm a vegan so I can't use the honey. Does the treatment work well without it or is there something else that vegans should substitute?

Long hair hiatus: short hair for now, buzzcut!
Well, before yesterday I hadn't tried a "real" SMT. I'd only done it with conditioner + honey, and had ended up with sticky, not-really-mindblowing results. But I've had aloe gel on hand since I tried it while dealing with humidity this summer, I had honey on the shelf next to it, and I haven't had the time to do a single DT since I started classes so yesterday I thought, why not?
I put more than 1 part honey, and I added some almond oil and coconut oil. The texture was a bit lumpy but it was better after being warmed up a bit. Heated in the microwave, applied to dry hair, let sit for a couple hours, and rinsed out with water. My hair is amazingly soft today! It was an excellent detangler and I can't get over the feel of my hair right now.
I thought there was too much hype around this treatment... but actually, I really like it.

Thanks Lyv and Anje, I will try one of those out asap!

Does applying the SMT with heat help?
And may I leave it in overnight for extra benefits or will that not make much difference?
