It's so exciting I noticed the same thing yesterday, and I can reach around my back and feel it now!!

I'm not sure how everyone is measuring but I am now at 20.5 inches dry and need about 23 inches to APL (thanks to husband for assisting with that haha) so about 3 inches to be well and truly there. 6 months to go!!

I once ordered a corset online and found out that, though I'm slightly above average in height, my torso is too short to even wear regular corsets(!). The rest of my body is normal(or daddy longlegs, depending on how you look at it). That's why I'm not even going to measure myself - I already know I'm a freak
I’m sure you’re not a freak I’d go crazy if I judged my body by how clothes fit, I have a ridiculously hard time buying clothes!

Oh, the disc bun! I need to look at that again. I could NOT get it when I had long hair, it was too confusing or something.
Thanks for explaining how you trimmed, I’ve saved that for future reference! My hair is incredibly unforgiving and I have nape whorls which like to mess things up at this length, so I’ll stick with my hairdresser until my hair is longer. At least I’ve got a good one to go to

I think this is a good stage for trying out buns without having too much hair in the way

Wow six months will be great It only seems like 5 minutes ago we were complaining about the awkward stages above shoulder length!

Thanks all! I’m excited to be moving on. Though I hope nobody minds if I pop in now and again to comment

-Seconding the recommendation for disc bun, that one may work sooner than most other buns do at this length. For me it was the seashell bun right at shoulder, and the disc bun right afterwards.

-I microtrimmed out some bleach damage using feye’s method for a u-shaped hem several months ago. It worked out pretty well for me since most of my bleached ends are still on the sides/front and the u-shaped hem got the parts of hair I was most interested in trimming. My natural hair didn’t really need messed with, those ends feel fantastic. Plus, I prefer the u-shape hem on me.

I have this same problem. The distance between shoulder and APL for me is more than any of my other milestones all the way until tailbone. I have broad shoulders and mega long legs. My torso is 7 inches and I am 5'6.

The good news about that is, theoretically once I make APL, I have maybe 2 years to get to hip length. *shrug* One can only hope.

It would be great if you would pop in and comment. I love it when people who have moved on still check in at their longer length. If you happen to see this, do you have any particular tutorials you used for the seashell bun and the disc bun? I have not been able to get those at any length, I feel like I need a better tutorial.

Same here blackgothicdoll. Shoulder to APL is like 9 inches. No other milestone has that many inches between them. I do have broad shoulders as well.

Shoulder to APL is the single longest road on my journey since I'm not planning on growing below waist. I'm almost 6' tall and naturally have broad shoulders also. The last time I started to grow my hair I was already close to BSL, so I didn't have to go through this phase. Sigh

I'm so glad I can post in this thread again. My hair is at my collar bone. While I'm thrilled it's growing, my styling options are still pretty limited. I do a half-up lazy bun a lot, as well as peacock twists and pony tails. I'm working on making a presentable braid, but right now my attempts are laughable.

Do you guys have any other styling suggestions for this inbetween length?
