A bun that can be secured with ribbon?

Hey guys, I couldn't find anything suitable myself, so I'll just ask you bun pros.
I'm looking for a bun/a way to bun, so that you incorporate ribbon in it (sort of the way you'll do with braids) and then tie the ends of the ribbon in a way that secures the bun. I don't mean taking a bun, and wrapping the ribbon around the base the way hair elastic would secure it, I hope I'm clear enough in my explanation.
I need this, so I'll be able to sleep in the bun. Hair sticks (and forks) are of course out of question. I don't want to use elastics, as they will be rubbing the same place at the base of the bun again and again, and this means damage for me. I have a very soft and silky ribbon just right for the job.
Ideas?

What about a cinnabun with the ribbon "sewn" into the outer ring of the bun until secure, then tied into a bow?

You could braid a piece of ribbon into an english braid. Leave a chunk of ribbon out at the top, and bottom. Secure the tail of the braid with the tail of the ribbon. Wrap it into a bun. Then, wrap the ribbon tails OVER the bun, twist ribbon and tie the tails of the ribbon to keep it secure.

Might I suggest something likethis. its a rennaissance hair tape method. I have tried it before and its realy secure and you can tuck your hair into the end.

You could do half up braid first then braid all hair together, finish braid with a ribbon and then tie the ribbon to that "half up braid" loop. Hope I make sense. It depends on total hair length too.

What a cool idea! Thanks for mentioning it.

The only thing I could think of would be a braid bun, and maybe weaving the ends through the strands in the bun to make it extra secure.

I'm going to play around with ideas tonight.

hmm... maybe i am crazy but couldn't you twist the ribbon along with your hair while making the bun (with a tail left on both top and bottom), and then when you wrap or spiral the bun, tie the two ends of the ribbon together?

in my head this makes sense, but i'm not sure if it would work IRL or if i explained it well.

What would keep the bun from falling down off your scalp, though?

I haven't found the answer I hoped for, but there are some nice suggestions.
Due to the nature of my hair (curly hair that needed to be maintained in the shape it was air dried for the curls to survive - long story, anyway), I'd prefer the bun not to be braided, or else I could just sleep with a simple braid...
I'm sure there's some way, twist it here, coil here, bring the ribbon from here to there and whoa-la

Hm...

Could you maybe make a bun, then simply thread the ribbon underneath it and tie it over the top of the bun, like a hair slide made entirely of ribbon? It doesn't incorporate the ribbon like you want, but it might work.
