We agreed I don't have to be perfectly solidly at waist, but there should at least be more than a few hairs hitting. With my hair, onion oil, and caffeine rinses, you never know, right? Thats what I'm telling myself.
Um, would temporarily straightening it be against your rules? Because you may be able to 'encourage' it slightly.

Not much of a cheat, my hair is already pretty straight haha! I'm going to wash it and air dry it completely right before so its in it's straightest state. But I did explain the concept of stretching hair to measure it, because mine can get a liiiiittle flippy at the ends, and I don't want to be cheated out of a couple millimeters of length 😂

Rainbouu, when you showed us your hair I saw it so close to your waist that it's hard for me to think it won't reach wl with a few more days.
And on top of that, if you plan to stretch it the night before so that the waves don't steal even a millimeter from you I see a clear winner.

What do you get if you win the bet?

I think it's solidly waist, especially if you consider waist to be the slimmest part of your abdomen which looks to be an inch or so above where your hands are placed. In any case, congrats and we'll see you in the next thread soon!

Aw, thank you everyone! You're right, I suppose it is solid WL after all. I felt a bit like an imposter before, but now I'm more certain!

Albact, as for how long it took, unfortunately I have no idea because I only started paying attention to the length recently. I know when I joined here in November it was solidly MBL already, so my guess is perhaps somewhere in the realm of 6-8 months? Sorry, I wish I had started tracking it earlier!

It's really going to be down to the wire, isn't it? Well you've still got 11 days, I hope you make it!

Loser has to buy dinner, anything the winner wants within our budget! I'm actually going to be sad it's over regardless of the outcome, it's kept me really engaged and focused on caring for my hair every day in the hopes of being able to say "I told you so, I really have bene gesserit like control of my body!" :P I might have to come up with some new challenge to pass the time to hip once I reach waist.

Thanks for responding, MaggiNoodles! I was just curious.
Months ago I read that it takes 8 months to get from MDL to WL, and now I always remember that when I see people reaching waist length.

    Ooh, that's cute!
I also love these types of challenges or bets. That extra motivation is very helpful. Now I have to find someone to bet with.
It would be cool to have a thread where people did these kinds of challenges. I have seen people who try to wear a different hairstyle every day or to wear their hair down. But not about hair growth in x time or other challenges.

By the way, when I see hair between MBL and WL they seem long to me. Then I look at my hair and it looks short. I don't know if it's because I am short, I have a small torso, a higher waist, or I'm just not being objective.

I read threads about how long their hair should be to reach their waist, and it's more than I need. I guess that's the advantage of being short.

Don't worry, it seems to be pretty common to think your own hair looks shorter than it is. I find myself out and about going "Wow! That person's hair is so long, I can't wait until mine's that long too!" only to realise a second later that my hair is longer

It's pretty engaging when the outcome isn't a 100% sure thing. It's a bit like gambling, maybe. I don't want to keep betting my hair will hit a milestone, and find that it hasn't, over and over though, lol! That would start to get discouraging rather than motivating. But I'm not sure what other high stakes (in a fun way) challenges there are. Hair doesn't change much aside from length.
