Hello everyone!! You can call me Ophelia. I've been lurking for a pretty long while and I finally feel motivated enough to make my first post.

I don't really remember what I said about my hair when I filled in my details when I first signed up, but some things have changed. I decided to stop color treating it, and dyed it back to my original color. I've also gained half an inch of ponytail circumference, which I am SO excited about.

A bit more about me and my hair, just to recap: I have type 4 hair that I've been chemically straightening with spaced out formaldehyde free keratin treatments since at least 2020. It's often a huge challenge to manage the resulting two hair textures at the same time, but I'm committed to making it work. I am also a HUGE lover of haircare science and have had the best time learning about what to eat to minimize shedding like DHT blockers, the role of antioxidants, proteins, iron, biotin and what have you.

What else to say? I'm a Sagittarius, I'm 28, I'm a hellenistic pagan and it's a pretty huge part of my life, and I had my Final Haircut For a While on November 6th 2024. I'd reached mid back with fairytale ends but wanted a reset, so I cut it an inch or so above armpit length. Right now when stretched it's around bra strap length.

from a quick Internet search, Hellenic paganism is essentially a modern-day revival of Ancient Greeks' religion, if I understand correctly?

It isn't inappropriate at all! That's exactly what it is. Obviously a lot of the original practices have been lost, and we don't do certain things for ethical reasons anymore (I'm not going to sacrifice any doves ) but it's mainly focused on building kharis, which is a reciprocal relationship between your chosen deity and you. For example I read and recite a lot of Sappho, do rituals with rose incense at the beach, make offerings of apples and fresh flowers and make sure to be dedicate any self care/beauty related rituals to my deity. My practice is actually a big reason why I decided to grow out my hair again!

Bonus points if anyone can guess my deity

And yes, I did gain half an inch. It's true that it's impossible to increase the volume you're genetically born with, but there are things you can do to minimize shedding and breakage so you're able to reach the upper limit, so to speak. If anyone has any questions about this, please ask because I LOVE talking about it.
