I actually got most of my buttons from a second hand shop with the intention of making flexis. I also made one or two with centerpieces from metal accessories from elastics, that I found in a viking shop.

Thanks, TatsuOni! I'll have to check the local thrift stores. I know of one that always has knitting needles for a dollar a pair. Every time I see them, I think, "These could be hairsticks...." Maybe they have buttons buried on those shelves too.

Where I bought mine they had them in the shelves in the counter. So ask them if you can't find any in the store.
