This hairdo made me a strong impression in a norwegian movie I Am Dina, where a dead mother appears to her doughter, who has accidentally killed her.

Also Elsa from Frozen has same kind of hairstyle and that's why I feel this is some kind of ancient norwegian mystic hairstyle...
