Wondering if anyone has this BaByliss Pro The ColdBrush…or has thought about getting one or knows someone who has it? Below, are the claims the product makes…

Apparently, it gets way colder than just the cool setting on a hairdryer.

It sounds very intriguing and I’m considering getting one. Maybe.
I at least would like to try it out but it can be returned for a refund if I don’t like it, I’m told. So I’ve got nothing to lose.

I don’t think freezing temperatures add moisture to the hair. Rather, they’ll make the moisture in your hair expand and potentially damage it. Not a fan of that language—if you want to infuse hair with moisture, get it wet.

That said, though, I doubt the brush will be able to actually freeze moisture in the hair, though, so the effect may not be too harmful. I personally haven’t noticed much of a difference between rinsing my hair with cool water at the end of my shower, so this may be a your mileage may vary situation. People that get a benefit from cool rinses may have good results with this, and I imagine it might have a use for specific styling techniques.

As for specific claims, I doubt it will be helpful on dirty hair—cold makes sebum more clumpy, so it might just look stringy instead of wet. Chilling wet hair before heat styling honestly strikes me as a practice likely to damage hair—the damage from heat styling comes from the heat itself making water rapidly evaporate from the hair strand and forcing its way out. That’s why it can be drying—first, it literally dries the hair, and then, the structural damage accumulated with time makes it harder for the hair cuticle to lie smooth and closed, which means it’s more porous and easier for water to evaporate out of.

So basically love, you’ve dismissed this tool as gimmicky and useless.

You could well be right. Since starting this thread, I’ve watched some youtube reviews, where some say it’s wonderful and others say it sucks.

To be fair though, the ones who say it sucks, only used it once…while the others who said it was good, used it several times. I think some people want instant results and if they don’t get it, they think something doesn’t work.

Without trying it myself though, I can’t know for certain. I wonder if I should even bother making the effort though. Maybe I should try the Dyson Hairwrap instead….but the price is just so INSANE!
There seems to be plenty of women on YouTube, shelling out the dough for one though. I just don’t know.

    Decisions, decisions.

I do love hair gadgets and trying new things on the market….although I think this has been out awhile. I will say that I definitely do benefit from cool water hair rinses.

Anyway, thanks for your 2 cents, Entangled.

Well I actually bought this thing and tried it because they said they would refund me if I didn’t like it. I’m kinda shocked at the results and if I hadn’t tried this tool myself, I likely would have remained dubious and dismissed it as a silly gimmick. But it’s not at all.

It made my hair super glossy and smooth. It took away all my frizz as well. I guess the “magic” of it, is that it seals the cuticle tighter…which would explain the smoothness and shine. Who knew!

I really like it actually and I think I’m gonna keep it. Nice to get a smoothing effect without having to use a flat iron, which I stopped using over 4 years ago due to breakage and damage.

    Anyway, cool tool…literally.
