i think one of the reason it takes so long to hit mbl is that its kind of an awkward length, you cant really put it up many ways that dont involve elastics so i think its easier for the hair to get damaged, keeping us here longer.
Well, I finally measured today, and I'm at ~21.5 so I belong here now.
Hi! I've got about 5 inches to go before I get to MBL so I'm gonna be here for a bit.

Congratulations on getting to/past APL GrowlingCupcake!
I thought I should start participating in this thread now. I maintained at around APL for 2 years, to cut out damaged ends and henna. I still have some henna left (and damage I expect) but I want to get to MBL this year, so my aim is to get there first and then maintain for a little while. I’m not measuring, exactly, but I estimate that I have about 3 inches to go.
elaina I think it depends on thickness. My hair is the lower side of ii, and I’ve had a few sheds over the last couple of years, so how fast I can reach MBL is dependent on how happy I am with the thickness at the hemline. I think those of us with hair at the thinner side might feel the need to trim more often (but that is certainly not a hard and fast rule!).
On the other hand, one advantage of having thinner hair, is that I can do stick and fork buns at APL. As your hair is thicker (going by your stats), maybe you could do two smaller buns, or a half up and wrap the ends around it, if you want to avoid elastics?
I like APL length hair, it’s the first length where I feel it suits me (beyond pixie). Now that my hair is APL+ though I’m getting impatient to reach MBL, because I think I will like the way it falls against my back at that length.
Does anyone know any nice updos for APL? I'm getting sick of switching between ponytail and cinnamon bun. Just remember I need to work with food and that as a man anything braided is out of the question where I live especially since I work with clients, of which I suspect a big chunk of them not agreeing with more feminine styles at all.
The modified lazy wrap bun for shorter hair works for me from shoulder length onwards. It depends whether you could use a stick or fork to secure it when you’re working with food. A fork with head curve might fit under a catering hat.

ETA - normal hair pins would work too, I don’t know why I forgot about that!

A ponytail with the ends tucked to create a bun seems like a popular option for men: https://menshaircuts.com/man-bun-hairstyles/
Grow grow grow, where it stops no body knows.
Thank you <3 I'm about an inch/inch and a half past it when wet.
This is how I usually wear mine.
In other news, I managed a super uncomfortable lazy wrap bun. it fell out almost immediately, and was awfully tight to do but it was my first stick bun since cutting my hair! I hope this means I will be able to bun soonish. I miss buns.
