Wavy/whirly hair is funny. Am I shoulder? Am I APL? Am I neither? Lol

If I let my whole head curl, it's roughly at chin.
If I let just my ends curl, which is my common styling method, it's at/slightly past shoulder.
Wet/stretched, my longest layers are definitely at APL.

Haha same here. I styled my hair curly girl method a few days ago with gel and scrunching and my hair was barely collarbone. When it has its usual loose waves its a little below the collarbone. But when it's brushed completely straight my hair reaches APL. The longer it gets, the less I try to encourage the curl though because I just wear it up all the time.

That's some impressive shrinkage. I feel like the territory between shoulder and APL seems to take so long because there isn't enough weight to weigh down the whirls, so the hair grows out but not down. I hope that, at a certain length, it suddenly seems to start growing really fast because there is enough weight. Who knows - I always maintained at somewhere between APL - BSL with trims most of my adult life.

Anyways, starting over with my hair growth. Had a pixie cut a few years ago and kept it short for awhile. Then when Covid hit and the shops closed decided to let it grow out. Goal is to never cut again, only 'micro-trims' when needed. Learning how to care for it since my hair seems more fine and curlier as I get older.

That's awesome! So convenient. Mine doesn't behave nearly as much - the nape layers are too stubborn. I thought maybe you had some super secret styling method, but I'm happy to hear it's low maintenance!
