This is the length these days. Due to the varying patterns, I'm at a stall for the last 2–3 months, it still curls almost all the way up to CBL, even when it's just wavy, as shown on the second photo. But I know that's not an accurate measure of progress; 2 months ago, stretched length barely touched APL and now most of it is solid APL with layers reaching the bottom of shoulder blades.

I think I just wish I had some visual progress, too.

ears | shoulders | APL | SBL | waist (curly)
ears | shoulders | APL | SBL | waist (stretched)

Curious to hear what your favorite up-do's for this length are? And what hair toys do you use?

A french roll/tuck hybrid thing. Two of them (1 on the either side of the head). I use claw clips and bobby pins.
I think spider clips could work, but I only have one and not all my hair reaches.

ETA : not sure if they are called spider clips. I meant the larger claw clips.

ynne, for me the only solution for wave length retention is to take shots with damp hair. With dry hair I just have to cross my fingers and trust my follicles

labelo, my faves are a tiny weeny cinnabun held by a giant claw clip, half-ups of every kind, a peacock twist and the french tuck hybrid like Lanalavallama.
    Oh, and paranda braids!

labelo, I think I asked this question in this thread before, because not much works for me! I'm also on the longer end of this thread length range, but I'll answer anyways since it didn't change in several months, besides the amount of bobby pins I need to secure it (now I don't really use any, besides an occassional rebellious hair strand).

I do ponytails (I know, I know), the simplest messy bun type I don't know the name of, and claw clip updos ("buns" or claw clip ponytails). I rely on claw clips a lot.
I can't braid symmetrical braids at the back of my head, so no twin dutch braids for me, but these should be possible and imo look really cute!

Lanalavallama, What does the french roll/tuck hybrid look like?

SleepyTangles, it's definitely a "what will my hair feel like doing today?" situation!

Ooooh, ask and you shall receive

Pinned up with matching items when I am out and about, of course.

I took this for the French Twist thread (and then they were deemed to not be French twists ) so now they are a staple.

I’ve been wearing my hair in a high ponytail every day. Occasionally I do a half-up, but it doesn’t last long before I am putting it back in a ponytail to keep my hair away from me. My hair is layered and it escapes all other hair updos. I have tried peacock twists and braids but my hair always escapes almost immediately. I always end up back in ponytail.

For my hair, I've been liking crown braids (Making two dutch braids and pinning them in the back so it wraps around your head. I've also learned I can use a hairstick to keep these up in back, though it's not as neat).
I'll also make two little french brids in front just to keep it out of my face. Basically I just start at my part and do a french braid on each side, but I stop braiding at the temple and let the rest flow loose in a ponytail. It's a way of getting my hair out of my face but keeping it mostly down.

    Half ups are also fun.
