the only hairstyle i really use other than a top knot to keep it dry in the shower are two really simple english braids. i’m not competent enough to do any other style! also i only wear my hair up at night as i’m lacking confidence and need my hair as a kind of ‘barrier’ between my face and the world haha. i should work on that. everyone’s hair is so pretty on here!

You just need to practice! French and Dutch braids are easy once you know the English braid. And then you can wrap them up and make a crown braid! That's my go-to. It's easy to do, and most people seem to be really impressed by it. I kind of get the 'barrier'-thing. Maybe start just having some front pieces hanging loose and see how you feel? Also, when you become more practiced, people will just look at your hair

It's not the clearest image, but do y'all reckon I'm at APL or should I wait 'til 2020 to call it?

I always liked the idea of containing my hair in a sleep bonnet but my nape hair gets damaged from it.

thank you! i’ll practice my french/dutch braid tonight, as long as i don’t get too frustrated. keeping some front pieces loose is a really good idea, i’ll try that! xxx

Thank you guys! Looks like I'm graduating to the next thread :P But will likely still hang around here on occasion

Oh also, I just sleep with my hair loose at night, I hate having it up when I'm sleeping... Might have to switch methods as it gets longer though, don't want unnecessary damage

Yay, congrats See you soon over there!

    Loose braids aren't that bad.
