I think I'm coming to the stage where I think ( I used to think) that this length is almost to be called long.
Even if it's still far from my goal ( WL), I don't feel the tension about growing. I sometimes think I should stay at this stage and trim untill I get the hemline I want. I'm still not sure what to do. I'll wait September, and then decide, but it would be pity too if I fail the challenge ( no trimming 2019).

    How are you guys doing?
It's really nice to hear you're not feeling tension about growing and getting longer hair fast (unlike me, "faster! faster!")

I'm checking my length tomorrow. Thinking about postponing my next trim which I was going to have in September. I don't think I'll be able to let my hairdresser trim my hemline now that I'm hovering around APL. Can't risk losing that precious length right now...

It's good that.yoj feel less tension to grow your hair! For me I definitely do not perceive this length as long as I almost get a triangle head and feel it's 'long' from like BSL or so..

Can't wait to get to APL, the closer I get, the harder the wait

I wish I felt like that, Agava. Mine is halfway between shoulder & APL but there are shorter layers in it. I want it at least BSL before I feel like it’s even starting to look how I want it to. All this waiting is a real test of patience! On the plus side my hair has never been so well looked after. I am doing just about everything I possibly can to make sure it grows as healthily (& then hopefully quickly) as possible. I hate having shorter hair & I haven’t had it this short since a bad cut when I was a teenager. On me long hair looks so much nicer- I don’t feel like I look nearly as nice with shorter hair. I think 4 more months & I’ll be solidly at APL but I think it could be about 3 years before it’s all the length I want!

Are you my hair twin? I feel like you just described my hair situation minus the bleaching (although I've been down that road a few times). I'm between shoulder and APL, have layers barely at my shoulder and I'm at least a few years away from my full goal. BSL is my "okay I feel better now" length. I've gone full force with growing out my hair and taking super good care of it but I'm still more impatient than I want to admit lol. I don't like how I look with short hair, probably because I had a bad experience with it from 12-16. Heres positive waves for us both to have lots of healthy and hopefully fast growth

Here to vent my frustration about inability to securely put my hair up without elastics...

Actually, I was supposed to ask a question. In your experience, what buns work the best for short hair? And can be secured with a stick.
Bonus points if it's bike helmet compatible.

The ones I have (borrowed from my mom's stash) aren't strong enough. They fall out pretty soon.

Hmm maybe look for a new one. You might need two if you have lots of hair. Personally I love spin pins because they are so easy. I don't think I would try wearing a bun while wearing a helmet but hopefully someone else has better suggestions!

Spin pins look cool, but I would think you'd need fat buns to make them stay. My hair is pretty thick (or so I've been told, it's much thicker than my mom's or my boyfriend's (his hair is APL) but that's anecdotal). It's a little past shoulder length, so I barely get one full wrap of any bun. Even half ups aren't very secure. Though my bun repertoire is very small. Only today I tried something other than a cinnabun (tried disc bun).
