NightSister your bun inspired me! But I can't get a whole bun to hold yet with anything but a scrunchie (unless I wanted to get a million pins or something).

So here's my attempt at a half-up nautilus instead!

I don't think I got it right... BUT it's pretty comfy and feels real stable, even if that lil bit sticking out says otherwise.

Corvana, your bun looks great! And that fork is perfect for you.

Thank you!! I'm surprised at how long it looks, it's only 5"! And I thought that my copper fork was my favorite, but so far I like this one way more... I like how the paler color in the wood is right about the same color as my hair. I can't believe I paid $2 for it on Wish

Ahh! Excellent!! Both the style and fork suit you very well.

    Thank you!!

On a similar note: Why is it when I've got my hair in a half-up it seems longer??

I had an appointment at Enchantress Salon in Fairview Park, Ohio. I highly recommend going there, I splurged on the hour long treatment, and my hair is so much better...I could go on forever about how wonderful it was. Anyway, I have layers, and Lance talked to me about my hair goals (it's a very collaborative, thoughtful process, the least stressful hair appointment I've ever had) about how it would be beneficial to let those grow out and have a blunter hemline, which I'd always wanted, but didn't think I could have. So I lost a little tiny, tiny bit of length, which made me kind of sad, but I'm still growing out damage (I'm done with the hair color for real) and it's teaching me patience with my hair, and I'm still in the shoulder to APL category. It's not nearly as dry, which has always been a problem.

I really liked how he emphasized that it's a process and not a quick fix. Great learning experience. I still checked the "floor trimmings" (sorry, Lance) but lack of trust dies hard, but he didn't take off one fraction more than we decided. What's more, I guess I wasn't washing it often enough, and that's why the product wasn't absorbing. I walked out of there feeling like Miss America. I have put myself on a regimen of weekly deep conditioning treatments. If I don't have the length I do what I can for my hair and that helps. I feel like I have have some precious exotic pet in my care now, lol.

I might have to sell my house and quit my job since he's so far away. I'm going back next year on my way out to PA.

Such beautiful and neat buns, NightSister and Corvana! Mine didn't look that neat till I was way longer than this, how do you manage that?

Thank you, _anya, for the kind words I've come to like that photo more and more, even thought about changing my profile photo to it, but I'm not sure!

Sorry that I haven't been in here for some time, been busy with life, I guess, I didn't even upload my monthly photo!

This was my hair on the 21st october, I had had a ponytail so ofc I had a bump from that!

I took another photo today just to get a better idea on how close I am, I am there if I stretch my hair, but I think I need another month before I'm truly APL, maybe two.

That sounds like a lovely appointment! Although I'll add that it may not be how often you were washing that made the product not absorb, but how often you clarified your hair of buildup.

You should make it your avatar!! It's a lovely photo! Your hair looks so lovely! I think you'll be APL by the end of the year!

My bun is only neat if it's a half-up lol. And if I were to do cinnabuns like my avatar, I need a scrunchie to make it seem neat (but really the scrunchie's surface area is larger and can hold more of the shorter bits).

I also didn't take a picture of the fails before I got that one to work

Twig, that sounds like a really wonderful pampering experience! It's funny, I was thinking of Enchantress this morning. I ordered a Madora comb from them years ago and they were so friendly and helpful.
