I had that same feeling, and the same reservation because now I actually understand how fringes work I know I'd need to heat style every day to get it to behave! Last time I had a fringe I was a kid, and it was a horrible clumpy mess. It really put me off! But a friend has recently cut herself a fringe, with thicker bouncier hair than me, and she's been heat styling it daily and it looks amazing.
Yea, I have seen quite a few nice styles out there. Last time I had bangs, I got sick and tired of heat styling, especially in the summer because half the time my bangs ended up under a helmet (cycling to work + hot = hot mess of bangs). But it is going in to winter and the bike is going away for its seasonal nap, so this might be the best time....

    The same to you!

Definitely sounds like it Would you grow them out again once spring comes?

Let my hair dry naturally again today. It didn't do too badly - got a few compliments from colleagues! But when I tried to put it into two Dutch braids to go to the gym, I kinda failed. I got the braids in, but they were so loose at the top they looked terrible and uneven. Ah well, practice makes better!

Just realised it's nearly a year since I let my stylist experiment and ended up with a cut that looked great in the salon, but was impossible for me to style at home. I just looked it up, and it'll be a year on the 15th October. I seem to remember I stuck with it for a fortnight, before I got it chopped to the level of the shorter layer. It looked so bad when I styled it myself! I don't have any length pics from the final chop, but I do have this single solitary photo (which I took to show off a new ear piercing). That's 6th November, so it must have been the bob. It was around the time of that cut when I started to think about growing it out again, and by January I'd made a firm decision, and joined here.

I'm a little sad I didn't take proper length shots back in November, but at least I have that October pic, so I can make an anniversary post when the time comes. It feels a long long way to APL, but it felt a long way to shoulder too!

ETA - had my first hair related anxiety dream last night! Dreamed my hair shed like it was made of those curtain-like extensions that fit in like a hair band. I was so glad to wake up and realised it hadn't really!

    And while I'm at it!

Red: BSL. Blue: APL (and miles away RIP). Black: tattoo landmark that only slightly helps because I'm at an angle in this month's photo. I feel like I'm going out more than down lmao.

I remember learning how to braid and how incredibly happy I was when I finally got it down.

I could call APL but I want to wait another week or two before officially calling it. I'll put a pic in my album when I do!

Also, my current avatar is my joining LHC pic. I'm not sure if I want to update it with each new milestone and put this one in my album or just leave it

Haha yeah it's such a pain. I can do GREAT braids on anyone else's head, though! But myself? I get caught up in the "going backwards" bit. Pleh.

And thanks! I actually took a more accurate one (in a similar position, and had el husbando take it) which proves that I 100% have only gained like half an inch or so But that is May's, and May's measurement was 18.5 and September's was 19, so it's accurate enough.

Oooohh soon you'll leave us for the APL to BSL thread :sniff:!

You could put one or the other in your sig, as well! So either keep your avatar and update your sig with the most recent, or put your current avatar in your sig and update your profile with the most recent.

Personally I'd have the most recent in my avatar, as the way I "read" avatars that are of hair or people is that they're more recent or indicative of the current state of said hair or person. I think my time on a pregnancy forum led to that, though lol. Every month was a new avatar with a new belly pic and "___ weeks!" slapped on it until baby popped out And that led to me unconsciously assuming that people were pregnant when they really just hadn't changed their avatar in months.

Go you! How long has it taken you to get from shoulder to APL?

I did a French braid this morning, and managed to keep it in all day at work without re-doing it or playing with it or messing around. I popped a headband over the top to make my face look neater and keep my ears warm, and had to adjust that in the afternoon, but I didn't mess with the braid! I'm so bad at not messing with my hair, I'm really proud of this!

I did take it out when I got home though, and now it's in a twist. I didn't want to wear the headband throughout the evening.

Also, I saw a lass today with a gorgeous crown braid. I can't wait until I have the length and skill to attempt that.

So many options when doing avatar and sig pics! I'll figure out what I want to do eventually

Six months! My hair now is where my avatar pic cuts off. I purposely sized the pic so it cuts off at APL.

Congrats on the French braid success!
