Thanks Fred, that's good to know, as your hair is in such great condition.

Happily growing and learning patience and gentleness with my hair.
Layered hair - keeping in the layers for now.
    chin - shoulder - collarbone - APL - BSL - waist?

Thank you Corvana it's good to be back!
I'm hoping the new layers will blend in soon - the old ones had pretty much grown out by the time I went for the haircut last week. I haven't had such soft hair in years and want to hang on to it - with a little bit of lightening/colour depositing rinses here and there!

How exciting! I'm so close to APL and should be calling it by the end of next month.

thank you! I'm amazed that I've not found many split ends yet. As it gets longer, I can S&D more of the hair at the back, and I'm still finding bits that have severe frazzly heat damage, which has to be from the last time I had my stylist use straighteners, back in February. Ouch It's not much though, thank goodness!

OK, so today I decided to let my hair dry wavy. No touching, no brushing it, not even finger combing. I wanted to see what my wave pattern was, now it's a bit longer. The last time I did this it was a lot shorter and it exploded in floof, but I figured this time it might have enough weight to do something interesting, and I might have enough patience not to brush it!

I put in a bit of coconut oil overnight because the ends felt they needed it, and did a coconut and cocoa butter mask in the morning (one of the new Garnier range, it was on offer in Superdrug!), and I will say my hair feels amazing right now, like seriously amazing, and has done all day. Also smells nice... Even though I've been at work all day!

Looks wise, it did turn out a bit of a mess, especially on top. The hair on top didn't develop more than a slight wave, but the hair underneath was pretty hilarious. Turns out I have two perfect barrel curls, one on either side just behind my ear, both currently purple, and everything else just does what it wants!

Here's a pic of the mess, and here's proof I actually did do a braid today (albeit a very tiny one, wanted to enjoy the waves... curls, wurls maybe. I dunno). Tempted to post the mess to the 'show your hair at its worst' thread, but I know for certain it can look way worse and I don't want to tempt fate!

Also I'm so tempted to treat myself to a set of Curlformers so I can have more barrel curls!

LOL, I definitely see your logic with the night braids! I've managed to do some kind of Dutch braid face framing thing with mine today (with a flipped and pinned English braid at the back). It'll be interesting to see if it lasts the workday! It looks better in the mirror than in the photos. I just hope it looks OK outside!
I have not tried that many different forks, but atm only jeters fork for me, when I had a bit longer hair my favorite was a two prong small fork that i got from swap board, I have no idea who the maker was, 60th street was interesting as well, but I didn't dare to wear it that often since the prongs were so thin.

That style looks nice! I forgot to do a braid yesterday and I'm too tired to do one now (bed time), but I really really want to learn how to make pretty braided styles

Two weeks ago I was almost at APL but my longest layers were so thin, you could barely tell (from a post partum shedding). So I chose thickness over length and now I'm just at collarbone. Not sure if I regret it or not, I just put it up, so I won't think about it, and let it surprise me. The longest my hair has ever been was just a little past APL (and I thought it was so long back then LOL), so I'm pretty excited to grow back to that and then longer. But until then, I belong in this thread, one baby step at a time

Joyful Mystery thanks! You are so nearly at APL

Fred shiny hair, and your curls look very happy here! I will look out for the coconut and cocoa butter mask. My hair likes the Mystic Olive one but I am not too keen on the smell.

    GalaMoon welcome!
