Ugh. The ups and downs of a long hair grower. Yesterday I was happy that my hair was growing longer. Today I realized I'm hitting my past-shoulder S-wave, so my hair is growing sideways. Ha!
So sometimes when I'm bored I like to look through the longer threads. It's interesting to me. Anyway I found this, and the subsequent tutorial:
My hair is still a bit shorter than that (and also slippy, and the front is shorter still), but I can get about 2-3 bumps in a braid and I've got a fork lying around.
Nowhere near as neat, I think for that I'd need another inch or to french/dutch braid (I don't know how to do that on myself lol). BUT!! It's up, and surprisingly comfortable and only the very short front bits fell out.
Maintaining at Hip-BCL for now.

It's so great to see the progress!
My flippy stage is not over, but my hair has started to look longer which is really nice. Slowly but surely growing towards APL.
No more flipping, please stay that way!![]()
When my hair was your length, I used to have that problem too! I think my hair is a bit wavier than yours, so my front shorter sections were pretty annoying until almost BSL. I originally had quite a noticeable length difference from the front compared to the back, and I think this encouraged more flickyness, and obviously a worse mullet look (I feel you haha).Unfortunately, at almost hip length my front sections of hair are still shorter (and more damaged and thin at the ends), but it definitely looks more normal from the front now that my hair is a lot longer.
What type of hemline do you like? I figured a U-shape hemline will get rid of my last "layers" at the front. Since I like a blunt hemline though, I've only ever cut straight across so the shorter sections are abruptly shorter and weird on my otherwise straight hemline. Since not trimming the shorter sections for the whole time I've been growing out my hair (SL), my shorter front sections are noticeably more damaged than my length and beginning to fairytale. Hopefully my hair will be almost one length in a year or so with my microtrimmingI just thought I'd mention my expierence, in case your hair is prone to damage like me.
Hopefully you don't run into the same problems as me though, it sounds like you're growing nicely

I recently decided to buy a boar bristle brush to use at night after detangling, so my hair and braid are smooth for bed. Now, I generally wash once a week or so, and the last time I washed was Thursday. My hair does not get that oily. After brushing my hair for the last four nights, I cannot believe the difference in sebum production! My hair is slick at the top. The oil has made its way at least halfway down my length from the brushing.
This is very foreign to me, and since I generally bun or braid everyday its not necessarily unwelcome...but it is very different.
At this length (unless you have grown long and chopped before!) is when we learn our healthy habits for hair care. Has anyone else here experimented with brushing? Do you prefer to brush or comb at this length?
For some reason I completely overlooked your post, Corvana, it looks quite nice! Even if it doesn't look the same as WDs picture (she got long hair though so not weird!), you can see the potentialI want to try it too now, but I am terrible at braiding my hair into one braid, even when it is long enough for it.
ETA Tried it now and I think I need at least 20 cm more hair to succeed with that hairstyle![]()
